The banana fruit is loved by many people, due to its delicious taste, attractive shape and color, in addition to its high nutritional value.

What is a banana?

Bananas are a perennial plant that does not grow from a seed, but rather from an onion, i.e. from a plant stem that grows underground and stores its food. The period between its germination and its harvest is approximately 10 months, as it begins to bloom in the sixth or seventh month.

Where are bananas grown?

Bananas are grown in tropical or tropical countries such as Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and the Pacific, with temperatures equal to 27 degrees Celsius to give the bananas the warmth they need for their growth.

Banana cultivation requires moist soil with good ventilation, with a pH ranging between 6 and 7.5, and sandy soil should be avoided, with attention to irrigation, the use of pesticides to protect the plant and fruits, protection of the fruits as well from wind, insects and birds, and the provision of the optimal temperature required for the banana plant.

When does the banana harvest start?

Bananas are harvested after nine months, although they are green in color, but this is harvested for the purpose of export, and within certain standards that guarantee the conditions for the bananas to remain intact and edible, especially during transfers from one place to another, and it is required that the temperature of the refrigerators for transporting them be at temperatures up to Thirteen degrees Celsius, while controlling the percentage of humidity and ventilation, as mentioned above, in order to preserve its quality and the safety of its delivery to the consumer’s hand, with high nutritional value and a beautiful and encouraging shape.

What time is banana planted?

It is preferable to grow bananas at any time of the year, through seedlings, to avoid some pathogenic factors, especially those transmitted through soil and nematodes. Nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium are all the most important needs of a banana plant.

How to grow bananas:

Planning the place where the bananas will be planted using a special measuring tape, then start digging the special holes in which the banana seedlings will be placed one by one, then put some fertilizer to promote plant growth, then fill the hole with soil.
