How do I plant a palm tree

Palms

Date palms are among the fruitful trees whose leaves do not fall during the year. They are mentioned in the Holy Qur’an in seven places, and the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, urged them to be honored and taken care of, and they have enjoyed a remarkable position throughout the ages and times.

All parts of the palm tree are used; Such as fruits, fibers, stems, fronds, and leaves. Its fruits are rich in nutrients that the body needs. Such as vitamins and mineral salts such as calcium and magnesium. Rather, it is considered an integrated meal that is reliable in providing the body with energy. The sugars in it are easy to digest, and what highlights its nutritional importance is the Prophet’s urging - may God bless him and grant him peace - to break the fast with dates after a long fast from food and drink.

Many researchers have likened the date palm tree to a human being, as it dies when its head is cut off, just as it cannot replace the fronds, like a person who cannot replace its joints, and one of the places of similarity is also that the date palm tree does not bear fruit unless it is pollinated, as there is a mention of it and the female.

  • Soil: One of the best types of soil that helps in the strong growth of palm trees is a mixture of sand and soil in the same ratio.
  • Climate: Temperatures must be moderate when planting date palms, as it is not recommended to plant them in very cold or very hot winters, as the cold delays the growth process, while the high temperature causes the drying and death of the offshoots.

Palm cultivation method

  • Prepare the sapling to be transplanted by separating it from the mother, getting rid of the bases of the old leaves and the extra leaves, then cutting the excess leaf and joining the rest of it together to protect its heart.
  • Dig a suitable hole with dimensions of 1.5m x 1.5m x 1.5m, and the distance between the holes should be between 6 to 8m.
  • Put three-quarters of the hole with a mixture of dirt and sand, then plant the offshoot vertically or slightly inclined against the direction of the wind, then place pure soil free of salts around the roots.
  • Complete the rest of the hole with the soil and sand mixture, then press the soil to install the offshoot, then irrigate it with water, but make sure that it does not reach the heart of the offshoot.
  • Continue to water regularly for 45 days.
