How do I wash my body?

Body wash and skin type

You should use a body lotion that suits the type and nature of the skin. There are four common types of skin: normal, oily, dry, and sensitive. If the skin is dry, it is recommended to use a cleanser that contains natural ingredients, which often contain words such as “cream” or “oil” on its packaging or name. It is also recommended to look for a cleanser that contains glycolic acid or lactic acid, because these substances moisturize the skin. Soap that contains chemicals will be harsh on the skin, and will remove many of the oils that dry skin needs and lacks.

For normal or oily skin, you can use soap or regular body wash, but soap is considered better at removing oils. There are many cleansers made specifically for this type of skin, and some types of them are made to get rid of pimples caused by skin oils. As for people with skin If there is any sensitivity to a particular type of skin product and it causes redness, irritation, or itching, products that contain perfumes or a lot of preservatives should be avoided. Because sensitive skin will react negatively to these two ingredients.

Body washing rules

When washing the body, it is recommended to follow the following:

  • Use soap that does not contain a large amount of chemicals and water.
  • Washing the body is done whenever necessary. A person may need to bathe daily, or perhaps a few times a week, and a specialist should be consulted if you have very dry skin to find out the appropriate treatment for it.
  • Shower after exercising or after going out on a hot day to maintain body odor.
  • Taking care of the skin when washing the body, washing it twice a day with warm water, and using a lotion that contains natural substances to clean the skin; So that it does not dry it out.
  • Add a deep moisturizer or hair mask during the shower once a week, to keep the hair shiny, strong and moisturized, then rinse it after about five minutes. The heat of the bath will activate the treatment and enhance its effect, and the rest of the body can be cleaned while waiting for the moisturizer to take effect on the hair.
  • It is recommended not to massage the scalp forcefully while bathing. This pressure can affect the scalp, making it frizzy, and leading to hair tangling. Alternatively, you can rub the shampoo between the hands first, then massage the roots of the hair gently with the fingertips, and smooth with what remains with the palm of the hand along the length of the hair.
  • Scrub the body with a brush before showering, and start rubbing from the feet upwards with regular movements towards the heart, for 3-5 minutes. This helps stimulate blood circulation and the flow of lymphatic fluid, which removes toxins surrounding the cells, in addition to its benefit in getting rid of dead skin cells, making the skin glow.
  • Washing hands before eating, after using the bathroom, and after touching the nose, cats, dogs, or any other pets, in order to get rid of germs that may cause diseases to the person. The best way to do this is as follows:
    • Use clean, warm water and soap.
    • Rub the soap on your hands with some water until foam forms.
    • Rub hands together for about 20 seconds, then wash all parts of the hands and between the fingers.
    • Dry hands with a clean towel.

General tips when washing the body

Avoid hot and long baths

Hot water is not good for the skin. According to doctors, bathing with hot water removes natural oils from the skin, and can make common skin problems, such as eczema, worse. It may also cause an increase in itching even in people who do not suffer from eczema, so it is recommended to take a short bath with warm or lukewarm water. Cold helps close blood vessels that expand with heat and cause skin redness.

Avoid using products that cause a lot of foam

Products that produce a lot of foam remove natural oils from the skin, and the ingredient that causes this is called “Surfactants.” It is a chemical substance that absorbs water and oils from the skin. When this substance is mixed with water, it becomes able to bind to natural oils and remove them from the skin, so repeated use of these substances may lead to dryness and roughness of the skin.

Avoid keeping soap residue on the body

Many dermatologists warn against soap; Not washing the body with soap properly may cause irritation and dryness of the skin. Strong and harsh detergents can cause discomfort to the skin, as they contain chemicals and perfumes, so it is recommended to rinse them completely from the body.

Avoid putting a mask on the face after showering

You should not apply a deep mask to your pores after showering; It should be applied before washing the face and body and not after it. Washing the skin before and after bathing may lead to dryness, and it is recommended to apply a moisturizer to the body after washing it.
