Al-Zulfi governorate is considered one of the areas that contain large numbers of residents, so it is one of the populated cities. Al-Zulfi governorate occupies the northeastern part of Najd, and is considered the northwestern part of the Riyadh region. Al-Zulfi governorate is considered one of the governorates that is characterized by an important and strategic location. This is because it works to link the Gulf countries and the eastern side of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in addition to the Holy Land as well.

Al-Zulfi Governorate is one of the twenty governorates of Riyadh in the region of Al-Yamamah or Najd in the center of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. As the Zulfi governorate was also a link between the Kingdom of Hajar and the Kingdom of the Amalekites in the Kingdom of Taima, Mecca, Yathrib, Ma’in and Al-Hijr, and archaeologists found that the Zulfi Museum contains fighting and hunting machines dating back to the Stone Age, and some of them are homemade, and some Thamudic inscriptions were found, and scientists do many research to study and search for more evidence; As the research of scientists indicates the existence of traces in Zulfi from ancient civilizations close to Lake Al-Kasr.

Al-Zulfi Governorate is one of the largest cities in the Riyadh Governorate, and it also contains the center of the Emirate, and it is affiliated with the Riyadh region. With a large population, as we mentioned earlier; As it comes in the rank after the governorate of Riyadh, the capital, and the city of Al-Kharj, and the Zulfi governorate is considered one of the smallest governorates in the region, in terms of area; Because the sands of the desert take up about 91% of the total area of the city of Zulfi, and the Zulfi governorate is 260 km from the capital, Riyadh, to the north, and 70 km from the Buraidah governorate from the northeastern side.

Some of them said that the reason for the name came from Zulfi; Because of the gradient of Mount Tuwaiq in its height at it, and it was also said that Zulaifat means the villages surrounding Zulfi according to what Ibn Belhid said, and it was also said that Al-Zulaifa means moving from one place to another, and it is known that Zulaifat means villages.
