The number of antiquities of this city reaches more than two hundred, which makes it an important archaeological site, as it is the first city with its heritage wealth on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean, and the second city with its Mamluk antiquities after Cairo, as it represents a museum that combines Byzantine and Roman monuments, Crusader and Fatimid antiquities, and architecture. Ottoman and Mamluk, and it must be noted that the majority of these antiquities date back to the Mamluk era, then the Ottoman, then the Crusader, then the Byzantine.
