Anemia causes hair loss

The relationship between anemia and hair loss

Anemia associated with iron deficiency is considered one of the most common diseases, and it may sometimes be accompanied by other problems related to delayed mental development or behavioral disorders as a result of lack of mental activity, in addition to lack of intelligence and lack of resistance to diseases, specifically infections. For women, iron deficiency is mainly associated before the age of menstruation. As for men, the cause of anemia is linked to various reasons, including:

  • The presence of problems related to the digestive system, such as bleeding peptic ulcers and colon tumors.
  • In addition to problems and disorders in absorbing iron from the intestine.

Laboratory tests

Testing the hemoglobin rate is a good indicator of anemia, but there are more important laboratory tests that are linked to the exact percentage of iron in the blood. Anemia that results from iron deficiency is divided into two parts:

  • A decrease in the amount of foods that contain iron as a result of lack of good nutrition, for example, or a loss of the amount of iron consumed.
  • Iron is not stored in the liver on a regular basis, or is not transported to red blood cells, or even the presence of an amount of iron that is appropriate and sufficient, but at the same time it is irregular or has a specific disorder, and to detect the type of disorder, specific tests are performed.

Causes of iron deficiency

  • Increased demand for the amount of iron at certain stages, including childhood and adolescence, pregnancy and breastfeeding, in addition to erythropoietin deficiency.
  • Iron loss as a result of certain bleeding, after childbirth or certain surgery, in addition to the silent and hidden blood loss that results from the digestive, urinary, or respiratory systems.
  • Not eating foods that contain sufficient amounts of iron or due to a disorder in its absorption related to certain diseases, in addition to performing intestinal surgeries in particular, which consequently affects the absorption of iron.

Iron deficiency symptoms

  • General fatigue and exhaustion.
  • Inability to tolerate physical exercises.
  • rapid heart rate;
  • drop in blood pressure;
  • Inflammation of the corners of the lips.
  • The shape of the nails becomes like a concave spoon.
  • In addition to hair loss.

Anemia and hair loss

Many studies have proven that there is a significant relationship between hair loss and a lack of iron in the body, which causes anemia. One of the most common hair loss diseases related to iron deficiency is alopecia areata (AA), in addition to male pattern baldness (AGA), and hair loss is widespread among people and falls in a stage called telogen. Effluvium.
