The city of Shabwa, a beautiful city, is located in the south of Yemen, three hundred and eighty-five kilometers away from the city of Aden to the east, and about three hundred kilometers west of the city of Mukalla, and about four hundred and seventy-four kilometers east of the capital, Sana’a, and it is the third largest Yemeni governorate, in terms of The area of ​​​​the city of Shabwa is 42584 square kilometers, and it is divided into seventeen districts, and it is distinguished by its geographical diversity, the diversity of terrain and climate, which gives it additional privacy, and it is bordered on the west by Hadramout Governorate, and on the north side is the Empty Quarter desert, and on the south side it is bordered by the Arabian Sea. And the Gulf of Aden, and to the east, the capital, Sanaa.

It was known in ancient times as “Shabbout” and was the capital of the Kingdom of Hadramout. The city of “Ataq” is the center of Shabwa Governorate. The most important cities of Shabwa are Beihan, Habban, and Azzan.

The city of Shabwa is famous for the presence of high mountain ranges that extend with high density in the western and southern part of the governorate, such as the Al-Seer Mountains, the Sir Ahl Ghassil Mountains, the Al-Arr Mountains, the Uzmil Mountains, the Al-Mahajar Mountains, the Al-Markham Mountains, the Al-Ali Mountains, and the Al-Manara Mountains. There are many valleys such as Wadi al-Matar, Wadi Amad, Wadi Ghadis, Wadi Huda, and there are tourist beaches in Shabwa, such as the coast of Bir Ali and the coast of Balhaf.

In Shabwa Governorate, there are three different climates, and this difference is due to the large area of ​​the governorate, as the climate in the northern regions of Shabwa is a desert climate, where the weather is hot in summer, and in the mountainous parts and highlands of Shabwa, its climate is moderate in the summer, and cold in the season Winter, and rain generally falls in Shabwa, in the summer, and water flows to it in the form of torrents, coming from other governorates.
