The Asir region is located in the middle of the southwestern part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, that is, between latitudes 17.20 North and longitudes 41.30 and 44.30 East, as it extends from the borders of Al-Shuqaiq, Al-Darb, and Baish in the southwest to the borders of Najran in the east, and Yemen in the southeast. And from the borders of Wadi Al-Dawasir in the north to the borders of Al-Qunfudhah, Rania, the Red Sea coast and Al-Baha region in the west, where its area is estimated at about 400 thousand square kilometers, which made it a road for pilgrims coming from Yemen, and a major trade route between Yemen and Hijaz, noting that it is surrounded by five regions Administratively, they are: Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Najran, Riyadh, Al-Baha, and Jazan, while the region itself consists of ten administrative divisions, which are: Abha, Mahail, Khamis Mushayt, Ahad Rufaidah, Tathleeth, Al-Namas, Bisha, Sarat Ubaidah, and Dhahran Al-Janub. and Sabbat al-Alaya, as well as about 400 villages branching out from it.
Topography of the Asir region
- Tihama area: The Tihama region is located between the Red Sea coast and the high mountains of Sarat, where there are many mountains known as the Tihama Mountains, which are not high mountains, and are separated by a number of valleys.
- Al-Sarah Mountains area: The Al-Sarah Mountains region is a high area, extending towards the south of Yemen, and descending towards Tihama, which makes it similar to a wall dividing water between the valleys descending to Tihama, and the valleys descending to the Empty Quarter.
Asir region climate
The Asir region is characterized by its beautiful climate, due to the division of its topography between the Tihama region and the Al-Sarah Mountains, as its climate is moderate in the summer, and the clouds thicken in the sky, and rain falls continuously in the mountainous regions of it, and its temperature ranges between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius, while the Rain falls in small amounts in the Tihama region and its weather is coastal. In the winter, temperatures decrease in the Sarat Mountains region and are moderate in the Tihama region, noting that the rain continues to fall throughout the year in the Asir region, and increases in the summer, especially in the Sarat Mountains. In winter, the weather will be foggy, especially in the valleys of Tihama and the heights of the Sarat Mountains.
