Treatment of abdominal cracks

Medical treatments for abdominal fissures

There are several medical treatments for abdominal fissures, including:

  • Tretinoin: Tretinoin contains a retinoid that helps fade new stretch marks, but it can cause redness, irritation or peeling of the skin.
  • Collagen booster: Collagen booster increases collagen in the skin, but abdominal cracks do not disappear completely with it.
  • Centella asiatica: As it contains herbal oils that strengthen the body's cells to help collagen build skin tissue, some people also use it to help heal wounds, but there is no evidence to prove its effectiveness in getting rid of cracks.
  • Laser treatment: It is a new treatment that may remove old white cracks, as a study showed that cracks fade after five sessions compared to others who use topical creams, such as: glycolic and tretinoin.
  • Pulsed laser treatment: It is a painless treatment that uses light to remove new red stretch marks, as the light calms the blood vessels under the skin that cause the stretch marks.
  • Treatment with medical supplies: Small crystals are used to rub the upper layer of the skin, and a new study has shown that this treatment helped fade new, red cracks as it exfoliates the skin.
  • Plastic surgery: This is like a tummy tuck, where skin with stretch marks is removed, but these operations can leave scars, in addition to being often painful and expensive.

Natural treatments for abdominal cracks

Vitamin A

It is called retinoid, and this substance makes the skin appear more elastic and younger, and is used in many cosmetic creams. It can be used topically or by taking it orally, and following a diet rich in some foods, such as: carrots and potatoes, may help. Sweets help increase vitamin A levels.

Sugar

Sugar helps fade abdominal cracks, by rubbing the sugar on the skin as it exfoliates the area. This is done by mixing a cup of sugar with a quarter cup of almond oil or coconut oil, and some lemon juice, then rubbing the mixture on the place of the cracks. Repeat several times a week while showering, making sure to rub the mixture for 8-10 minutes.

aloe vera

There is no evidence that aloe vera treats stretch marks, but it is used as a skin softener, by applying aloe vera on stretch marks daily after showering.

Lemon

Lemon juice contains natural fruit acid, which works to whiten the skin and reduce the redness of stretch marks. That is, it can make the stretch marks less visible, by rubbing lemon juice on the cracks in circular motions, then leaving it to penetrate the skin for a period ranging from five to five minutes. Ten minutes before wiping it off, you can use another method with lemon, which is to mix half a cup of cocoa butter with two tablespoons of lemon juice in a bowl, then apply it to the cracks in circular motions.
