And the pink family to which cherries grow belongs to many other plants, including peaches, apricots, and almonds, and this family was named by this name; Because the flowers of the plants to which they belong are very similar to roses. Cherry trees, in addition to some other trees belonging to the pink family, such as: almonds, apricots, and peaches, are also called (almonds).

Cherry types

There are many types of cherries, the most important of which are: sour cherries, sweet cherries, and sour cherries are usually distinguished by their red color, and their scientific name is: (Prunus cerasus), and as for sweet cherries, they are distinguished by their dark red color that tends to be black, and their scientific name is: (Prunus avium).

The cherry tree is medium tall, usually not more than ten meters tall. Cherry trees are very beautiful, as they are among the most beautiful trees in nature, and this beauty is intensified during the flowering period, which occurs in the spring, when the cherry tree is filled with white and pink flowers that attract attention and attract attention, which soon turns into cherry fruits. And the fruits of carrots are useful and healthy fruits. This is because it is rich in many important substances and nutrients, including: vitamins, mineral elements, energy, and so on. Cherries also have some therapeutic uses and benefits for some diseases and health problems.

Cherry cultivation is widespread in many parts of the world. The largest cherry-producing country in the world is Turkey, where the volume of its production of sweet cherries in 2012 was about (480,748) tons, and the volume of its production of sour cherries in the same year was about: (187,941) tons. It is the largest producer of cherries in the world in both types: sour and sweet.

Cherry cultivation success factors

Cherry cultivation succeeds in cold and temperate regions, as it needs an area with good rainfall rates per year, and cherries do not tolerate frost and high humidity, and they need fertile soil with good drainage and ventilation. The farmer must take great care of the cherry trees throughout the year, watering them in times of drought and late rains, pruning the trees, and tilling and fertilizing the soil as needed. He must also follow the various means by which trees are protected from harmful pests and insects that affect their productivity.
