When you want to plant bean seeds, you must first check the soil temperature and choose the warm season for planting. That is, from late May to early June, in order to ensure that the seeds do not rot in the cold soil. The seeds are planted in the soil at a depth of about 2.5 cm, taking into account the necessity of planting small-sized seeds at a lower depth. The seeds of beans are divided into two types, one is a wedge and the other is a shrub. Planting each of them requires specific steps. The wedge beans need a stake with a height of approximately two meters, with 2-4 seeds distributed around its base, so that the seeds are spaced about 10 cm apart from each other, while the shrub beans are grown in Rows so that the distance between the seeds in one row is approximately 10 cm, and each row is separated by a distance ranging between 60-90 cm.

Tips for growing beans

There are some tips regarding planting beans, which are:

  • Bean plants always need moisture in their soil, so it is recommended to water them once a week in general, and increase the number of times in dry weather, in addition to using materials that maintain soil moisture and control the growth of harmful plants, including: straw, grass clippings, or leaves. Compost.
  • Protect bean plants from insects, such as beetles, for example, by spraying them with soap and water or picking them by hand.
  • Monitoring the plant’s humidity and the temperature surrounding it, with the aim of ensuring that it is not exposed to diseases related to these two factors, such as bacterial diseases or plant wilting, and it is also possible to avoid the whole matter by planting species that tolerate different conditions.

Harvesting beans

The period allotted for harvesting beans varies depending on their types. Bush beans, for example, take a period ranging between 50-55 days until harvesting begins, while wedge beans need a slightly longer period, ranging between 55-65 days until they are fully mature, and the harvesting process is considered a process. Continuous, meaning that the continuous harvesting of the plant enhances its production of more beans, which benefits the farmer. In order for the harvest to be carried out correctly, it is necessary to take care to pick the bean pods after they are ripe, but before the beans inside them swell.
