This region is also distinguished by the fact that it was the first Christian gathering, and this gathering was a monastic gathering, and this gathering was held four centuries after the birth of Jesus Christ - peace be upon him -. The first gathering was led by the founder of the Monastery of Anba Makar, Makar the Great. This monastery is a monastery that exists to this day, and it is adjacent to three other monasteries, and these monasteries are the Monastery of Al-Baramous, the Monastery of Al-Syrian, and the Monastery of Anba Bishoy. There were approximately 700 monasteries in this region alone in the 4th century AD. Hence, this area has a special sanctity for the Egyptian Coptic Orthodox community.
