The Golan Heights is in the middle of three countries, which are Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria.2Its length ranges from the northern side to the southern side to approximately 65 km, and as for its length from the eastern side to the southern side, it ranges between 12 and 25 km, while the height of the plateau from the northern side is 2.000 m, and it decreases until it reaches sea level along Lake Tiberias or the Sea of Galilee, and the South River in the south.

The Golan Heights is surrounded on the western side by the Jordan River and Lake Tiberias, on the northern side Mount Hermon, on the north-south side Wadi al-Raqad, and on the eastern side the Yarmouk River. While the stone hills are located on its northern side.
Some facts about the Golan Heights
The Golan Heights has a number of features, the most important of which are the following:
- It occupies a distinguished strategic location, as well as its natural terrain.
- It is a source of fresh water, which is collected in the natural catchment area that feeds the Jordan River.
- It has the highest mountain in the country, which is Mount Hernon, which rises 2743.2 meters above sea level.
- Most of the Syrian Arabs left the area during the outbreak of the Six-Day War in 1967 AD, and approximately 20000 Druze residents remained in it, and now the plateau is home to Israeli settlers.
- It seems that naming the Golan Heights is related to the Arabic verb (gal), which means to circle around it, or to wander in it, or that it is the area exposed to dusty winds.
