Wadi Fatima is known as one of the valleys in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was known in the past by different names than it is today, and it has several explanations for naming it by this name, which we will mention later.

This valley is considered one of the large valleys located in Tihama, located specifically in the western side of the lands of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and we see the flow of this valley starting from the east side to the west side; Where it starts near the city of Taif, where the heights of the Al-Sarah Mountains, to end up in the area between the cities of Mecca and the city of Jeddah, which is known as the town of Bahra.

This valley is known for the abundance of its waters and the fertility of its lands. As we find it includes a good number of villages, but the most famous of them is the village of Al-Jumum, and the state has taken care of this valley and its riverbed, and therefore it built a dam on it in the year 1405 AH, and it is known as the Fatima Valley Dam.

Name the valley in the past

The Valley of Fatima was known in the past as (the valley of bitter Dhahran), and al-Bakri mentioned the reason for naming the valley by this name in his dictionary, and he said that Katheer Azza mentioned that it was called ( bitter) due to its bitterness, while Abu Ghassan says that it was called ( bitter Dhahran) because it is located in the belly of the valley " .

It is mentioned that the inhabitants of Wadi Fatima trace their lineage back to the Akka tribe. After that, it came out of this valley, and was replaced by the Khuza'a tribe, as well as the Bani Al-Dail tribe, which belongs to Bani Bakr, whose origins are from the Kinana tribe.

New name for the valley

The name of this valley was known as the Valley of Fatima in the light of the tenth century AH, but historians have differed in the origin of the lineage to which the name belongs. As there are five women who bear the name Fatima, and they were mentioned by historians, and they are:

• Fatima bint Saeed Al-Khuzaia: She is the mother of Qusai bin Kilab Al-Qurashi, and she is known as one of the bearers of the name Fatima and the one who gave birth to the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, from the side of his ancestors.
• Fatima bint Muhammad: She is the daughter of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace.
• Fatima Al-Khuzaia: Another Fatima, different from Bint Saeed, as this one is known to have been a doctor.
• Fatimah bint Thuqbah bin Rumaitha: She is the daughter of the sheriff who was the governor of Mecca, whom the sheriff Ahmed bin Ajlan married, and she gave birth to a boy named Muhammad, who was governor of Mecca after his father.
• Fatima al-Tabari: She is the daughter of Abd al-Wahed bin Muhammad bin Ahmad al-Tabari.
