Msemen is one of the most famous and beloved Moroccan foods among the Moroccan people. It is one of the oldest foods in Morocco. It is a delicious dessert dish and is classified as Moroccan pastries, but with a distinct flavor and taste. The method of preparing semen is easy and simple because its ingredients are inexpensive and always available.

 

How to prepare musmen

the ingredients

  • Five hundred grams of white flour.
  • Two hundred grams of wheat flour.
  • a teaspoon of sugar.
  • pinch of salt.
  • One and a half teaspoon of instant yeast.
  • Warm water for the dough as needed.
  • A cup of sugar is not used for kneading.
  • One cup of melted butter.
  • Half a teaspoon of vanilla.

 

How to prepare

  • Add white flour, wheat flour, a teaspoon of sugar, a pinch of salt, and instant yeast to a bowl, and gradually pour warm water while kneading using your hand, until a soft, cohesive dough is formed. Wrap it with nylon or place it in a closed bowl, and leave the dough for a quarter of an hour to rest. .
  • After time has passed, the dough is cut into small equal balls. The cutting is done by hand and then the balls are also shaped by hand. They are arranged in a tray and left for ten minutes to rest again.
  • Place the amount of butter in a frying pan, and over low heat, stir constantly with a spoon until it melts completely.
  • Dip the small dough ball in the melted butter, then roll it out using a rolling pin (dough rolling stick). After it's rolled out, sprinkle an amount of sugar and vanilla on it, and repeat the process with all the balls until the full amount is finished.
  • Arrange the spread dough on top, and it must be dipped in butter and sprinkled with sugar and vanilla in order to give the semen a delicious taste.
  • Turn on the oven at 180 degrees and leave for a few minutes until it heats up well. The heat must be distributed throughout all parts of the oven so that the fat is not damaged, and this must be followed when preparing any dessert or even any food dish.
  • Grease a medium-sized tray with oil and place the semolina inside it neatly.
  • Place the tray in the oven and leave it for half an hour.
  • Take out the tray, cut the semen, distribute it on plates, and serve it hot.

Ingredients

dough

  • Half a kilogram of white flour.
  • Half a kilogram of wheat flour.
  • pinch of salt.
  • A tablespoon of baking powder.
  • Warm water for kneading.
  • Half a cup of oil.
  • Soft butter for greasing the dough.

the filling

  • Half a kilogram of chicken breasts, boneless and finely chopped.
  • Carrot, large, grated.
  • Onion, large, grated.
  • A bag of Chinese noodles, noodles.
  • Two cubes of cream cheese, or two tablespoons of cream cheese.
  • A green bell pepper, finely chopped.
  • Black olives for garnish.
  • Salt and mixed spices.
  • A tablespoon of chopped parsley.

 

How to prepare

  • Mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl, then add the oil, mix the mixture well, then add warm water gradually until we have a soft, spherical dough. Then cover it and set it aside for half an hour until it rests.
  • Fry the onions with a little oil in a frying pan, then add the chicken, carrots, and spices, and stir until the chicken is cooked.
  • Add the Chinese vermicelli, olives and pepper, stir the mixture, then add the cream cheese and parsley with a cup of water, mix the mixture, remove from the heat and leave until it cools.
  • Form balls of dough in the shape of a square paste; Where the edges are joined in half, then the dough is rolled out again, the filling is placed inside the dough, and it is shaped in the desired way, with a black olive placed in the middle of the bread, and the surface is brushed with egg yolk and decorated with sesame.
  • Place the msmenat in the oven and bake it in a preheated oven. Bake until browned on top and bottom, then serve.
