It is a type of tropical perennial plant, and one of the summer agricultural crops. It is a group of corms and tubers. It is the most cultivated in the world, and the oldest on a large scale. It is also considered the staple food of some countries in Africa and Asia. It belongs to the taro family, and its leaves are characterized by... Important notes about taro

  • Taro is considered inedible and poisonous if not cooked, because it contains harmful and toxic calcium oxalate crystals.
  • When taro is cooked, the percentage of poison in it decreases and decreases, as its roots are soaked in cold water for a whole day.
  • It is known that calcium oxalate is not soluble and causes kidney stones, so it is recommended to take it with milk.
  • When the color is light purple, we can roast, cook, or boil it.

 

Preparing taro with vegetables

How to prepare

  • We prepare the taro seeds, wash them and dry them well, then peel them and cut them into medium-sized cubes.

  • Add the taro, water and onions to the pan.
  • Put salt, black pepper, and Mishka spices to the taro, and cover it well until it is cooked.
  • We prepare the garlic, wash it and cut it into small pieces.
  • We prepare a small frying pan, put the butter in the frying pan and melt it, then add the green coriander, then the garlic, and stir until it melts and the garlic browns.
  • Add the coriander mixture, then add it to the taro, and cover it until it is cooked well.
  • We pour the taro into suitable dishes, along with the rice, or with the bread.

 

Preparing taro with meat

Ingredients

  • Water.
  • Two tablespoons of ghee or butter.
  • garlic.
  • Two cups of tomato juice.
  • salt.

How to prepare

  • We prepare the taro, wash it, peel it, and cut it into medium pieces (as desired).
  • Pour water into a suitable bowl, add lemon, and put it on the fire until it boils.
  • Prepare a suitable pot, put the taro with the meat in it, then put them on the fire until they are completely cooked.
  • We prepare the sauce as follows:
  • Place the chopped onion, ghee and garlic in a suitable medium-sized pot, then put it on the fire while continuing to stir.
  • Add tomato juice to the mixture.
  • Add salt, black pepper, and mixed spices to the mixture, then cover the pot until it boils.
  • Pour the taro into suitable plates, then serve hot with rice or bread, as desired.
