How to prepare

The chard is washed well with water, and it is preferable to soak it in water for an hour. After that, the chard necks are cut, as we will use the chard leaves in cooking and put them in a colander until the water is drained. After that, we prepare a bowl and put the oil in it and add the onions, cut into slices, and add Garlic as well, then put the chard in the pot and start stirring it and add pepper, salt and sumac. The cooking time for the chard is half an hour, after which it is ready to eat.

Preparing pies and pastries from chard

To prepare chard pies, we need ready-made dough, or we can prepare a dough of flour, water, salt, and yeast, which is kneaded well and fermented for an hour. As for the chard filling, it consists of a kilo of chard, cut and finely chopped, the juice of one lemon, three tablespoons of sumac, and a chopped onion. Well, two tablespoons of olive oil, salt and pepper as desired. The chard is washed and filtered from the water. We put the onions and olive oil in a bowl and stir it for two minutes. Add the chard and stir for five minutes, then put it in a strainer until the water comes out. Then add the sumac and salt and stir well. Then we cut the dough into small pieces in the shape of triangles, stuff the chard and put it in the oven until it bakes, which is similar to how we bake spinach.

Corn and chard soup

Some of them add chard to soup Maize The soup consists of a can of sweet corn, a cup of finely chopped chard, a cup of water, a chicken stock cube, a finely chopped onion, salt, food spices, a pinch of coriander, and a spoonful of olive oil.
