There is a lake in Fasher that bears the name of this city, and there is a valley known as (Golo) about 16 kilometers away from the city center, and this valley is one of the most important sources that supply the city of Fasher with water.

The residents of the city of Fasher are engaged in agricultural work, and the most important of these crops on which the city depends are: the cultivation of cotton and dates, in addition to sesame and bananas, and we also find rice and corn in addition to mangoes, and some residents also depend on grazing; Where they raise sheep and goats, in addition to cows, that thanks to the development, growth and demographic awareness, and because of the increase in organizations, whether local or foreign, and because of the increase in volunteering, service work has increased in the city to find various services, whether administrative or banking.

The city of Fasher is connected with the rest of the cities and governorates of Sudan through multiple roads, which form a vital network for the city. We find the two most important roads in it: (Al-Geneina Road), and also (Umm Kadada Road), and they are known as the two highways, in addition to the presence of some seasonal roads.

The city of El Fasher was dubbed (El Fasher Abu Zakaria), and this title goes back to the name of the Emir at the time (Zakaria), who is credited with the progress and development of this city, and he is the father of the Sultan (Ali Dinar), and the word Fasher means (the Sultan's Council); Where this name appeared in some heritage works that tell about Sudan, as well as in literary works and old songs.
