  • lamentationThis type is meant by praising the dead, mentioning their merits, and their good qualities, which are represented by generosity, courage, and chivalry.
  • spellingIt is intended to vilify physical traits and defects, or vilify moral traits such as: stinginess and cowardice, or vilify social traits such as the weakness of the tribe, and the lack of authenticity of its lineage. This type is characterized by realism and non-exaggeration.
  • apologies: This poetic genre decreased in the pre-Islamic era, because it did not correspond to the nature of the Arab who was very proud of himself, and he became famous for this genius.
  • Spinning This genre occupied a prominent place in pre-Islamic poetry. As it began with readings of pre-Islamic poems, and specializes in the commentaries, and there are many types of yarn, including: frank yarn, chaste yarn, and industrial yarn that paves the way for entering the topic of the poem.
  • Description: No independent poems were devoted to this type, but there is no pre-Islamic poem that does not contain a description. Where the pre-Islamic was characterized by describing everything that his eye falls on, and this color is characterized by elegance, strength, accuracy of observation, and a description of nature.
  • wisdomPre-Islamic poets added wisdom to their poems, which show their experiences in life, and the lessons they drew from their lives.

Pre-Islamic Poetry

Pre-Islamic poetry is distinguished as lyrical poetry, because it depicts the poet's psyche, and the emotions and feelings that circulate in his thoughts, and lyricism is associated with singing itself. While the poetry of these days takes four types, namely: narrative poetry, educational poetry, lyrical poetry, and representative poetry.
