Poetry is defined as balanced, rhymed speech, indicative of the meaning, and it is often more than one verse. There is another definition of the concept of poetry: it is the speech whose rhyme and weight were intended as a preliminary intention, but what came from it by the pardon of the mind of words that were not intended as poetry is not called poetry. , even if it is balanced.

As for the definition mentioned by Ibn Khaldun for poetry, where he said in its meaning: “It is a speech that is definitely detailed, pieces of equal weight, united in the last letter of each piece, and each of these pieces is called a verse, and the last letter in which a rhyme agrees is called, and it is called a sentence.” Speech to the end is a poem and a word, and each verse of it is unique to its statement in its structures, so that it is a speech alone independent of what came before and after it, and if it was singled out, it was complete in its section in praise, kinship, or lamentation.

Poetry concept

Poetry is considered one of the forms of literary art in the language, as it uses aesthetic qualities instead of or in addition to the meaning of the subject, and poetry writing may come in the form of complete distinct poems or independently, or they may come together along with other arts as it usually happens in poetic drama Or poetic texts, hymns, or prose poetry.

From the moral point of view, the term poetry or its concept was taken from sensation or feeling, and usually the poet suggests a number of feelings or sensations in his poems that the reader feels.

Components of Arabic poetry

The poem: It is a group of verses from one sea, these verses agree in the last letter in the classical language, and in two or more of the last letters in Nabati poetry, and in the number of parts that make up the poetic line, which are called (activations), and the least components of the poem It is six verses, and it has been said in other places that it is seven verses, but what came less than this number is called (a piece).
Rhyme: It is the repeated syllable at the end of each line in a single poem, so that this word is considered the last thing that is attached and anchored in the mind of the recited poetic line.
Al-Bahr: It is defined as a rhythmic system of a number of poetically repeated activations.

The difference between weight and sea in Arabic poetry

Divide or subdivide the sea into a group of parts of the poetic meter, so that each of these divided parts represents an independent weight in itself, and the complete part of it is the one that fulfills the activations of its sea. As for the neglected: “It is what two-thirds of it has been deleted and one-third of it remains.” In other words, this part is used only through two activations.
