Show the taskbar

The taskbar may disappear from the desktop; Due to many reasons, here are some of the reasons why the taskbar disappears, and how to show it in each case:

  • The taskbar can hide at the bottom of the desktop after accidentally changing its size while working on the computer. The solution is as follows:
    • Move the mouse cursor to the bottom of the screen, and if the cursor becomes a double arrow; That is, an arrow that has a point up and a point down, then it is necessary to press and pull upward. The task bar will appear.
    • Move the mouse cursor to the right, left, and toward the upper edge of the screen; This is to search for the double arrow, if the taskbar does not appear when moving to the bottom of the screen.
  • The explorer.exe process may crash; It is the one that controls the desktop and the taskbar, as its failure leads to the taskbar disappearing completely, and its failure may also lead to the disappearance of some desktop icons, and the solution is as follows:
    • Open the Task Manager (in English: task manager), by pressing the three buttons on the keyboard at the same time, which are Ctrl+Alt+Del, or the three buttons Ctrl+Shift+Esc, from which (Explorer.exe) is selected and ends its work. By pressing the (End Task) button.
    • Click on the File button, then press Run New Task, and in the new window that appears, (Explorer.exe) is written in the dialog box, then press the (OK) button, and then The Explorer process will restart, but if the Create New Task window appears, this means that explorer.exe was working properly.
  • The option to automatically hide the taskbar (in English: Auto-hide) can be activated, and here it is necessary to stop the automatic disappearance, and the solutions are:
    • Press the keyboard button bearing the Windows logo (in English: Windows), and here the Start menu will appear (in English: Start), and then it is necessary to move the mouse cursor to the taskbar, press the right button of the mouse, and choose Properties (in English: Properties) .
    • Click on the check box next to Auto-Hide the taskbar (in English: Auto-Hide the taskbar), then click on the Apply button (in English: Apply), and move the mouse cursor to the right, left, top, or bottom; Until the taskbar appears.
    • Go to the Control Panel (in English: Control Panel), then click on the Taskbar and Navigation (in English: Taskbar and Navigation), and then a new window will appear titled Taskbar Properties, and here it is necessary to deactivate the option to automatically disappear the taskbar, as this is considered Action is another way to stop automatic disappearing.
  • Changing the display screen may cause the taskbar to disappear, and to re-show it, you must do the following:
    • Press and hold the key bearing the Windows logo on the keyboard, then press the letter P key, or by going to the Control Panel, then clicking on the Display option, then choosing Adjust the resolution (in English: Adjust Resolution), or change the display settings (in English: Change Display Settings), and then a list will appear containing several options for how to display the screen.
    • Navigate between the options using the arrows, choose the display method (Computer Only), then press the Enter key if the operating system is Windows 7, but if the operating system is Windows 7 10), it is necessary to choose the computer screen only (in English: PC screen only).

Pin a program to the taskbar

A program can be pinned to the taskbar; For quick access to it if it is used frequently, it can also be uninstalled with ease. To pin a program to the taskbar through the Start menu, you can do the following:

  • Press and hold on the program you want to install, move it to the taskbar, or right-click on it, then click More, then choose Pin to Taskbar (in English: Pin to Taskbar).

As for pinning a program to the taskbar through the quick jump list; It is a list that shows files, programs, and websites that have been opened recently. You can do the following:

  • Press and hold the application in the taskbar and move upward; Until the quick jump menu appears, if the application is currently running.
  • Right-click on the program from the list that appears, then click Pin to Taskbar.
To unpin a program from the taskbar, you can follow the same previous steps, except that Unpin from the taskbar is selected.

Change taskbar properties

The taskbar properties can be changed by right-clicking on an empty place in the taskbar, and then choosing Settings. The Taskbar Settings window will appear. Among the properties that can be changed for the taskbar is its location; Its location can be changed through the previous steps, then clicking on the (Taskbar location on screen) option and choosing the new location, either at the top of the screen, on the right, or on the left. Here it must be noted that the taskbar must be unlocked if it is locked. ; In order to change the location of the taskbar, this is done by right-clicking on an empty place in the taskbar, then choosing the (Settings) option, after which the taskbar lock is turned off (in English: Unlock the Taskbar).

Other properties that can be changed include changing the locations of buttons on the taskbar. This can be done by pressing the button in the taskbar and dragging it from its place to the new location. As for grouping the taskbar buttons together, the open windows of the same application are grouped together automatically, and with regard to changing how the taskbar buttons are grouped, this is done By right-clicking on an empty place in the taskbar, then selecting (Settings), and choosing one of the options shown in the Combine Taskbar buttons list.

Among the options that can be chosen from the taskbar button grouping list is the option to hide names (in English: hide labels), and this is the default option. Which means showing the application as only one button in the taskbar, so that if several windows of the same application are opened, they are combined in one button. As for the second option, it is (When Taskbar is Full); This means that windows from the same application are not grouped unless the taskbar is completely full, while the third option, which is (Never); This means that windows from the same application are not grouped together, even if the taskbar becomes completely full, as each window then appears in a separate button, even if the taskbar becomes full; It becomes smaller in size.
