Ibn Hani Al-Andalusi

Ibn Hani Al-Andalusi or Abu Al-Qasim Muhammad bin Hani bin Saadoun Al-Azdi Al-Azdi Al-Andalusi, and he is one of the most prominent poets of the Maghreb and Andalusia in the era of the Fatimid state. His lineage is related to Al-Muhallab bin Abi Safra, and his father Hani was born in one of the villages of Mahdia in Africa (which is presently Tunisia), and Ibn Hani was born in Seville in Andalusia and grew up there and moved between it and the city of Al-Bireh. .

Transfer of Ibn Hani from Seville

Ibn Hani learned poetry and literature, and contacted the ruler of Seville and was lucky with him, then its people accused him of following the doctrine of the philosophers, then the king advised him to leave, so Ibn Hani left Seville when he was twenty-seven years old, and he went to Morocco and praised the essence of Sicilian, then he departed to the Zab, destined for Jaafar And Yahya Ali’s two sons honored him, and his news reached Al-Muizz Abi Tamim Ma’d bin Mansur Al-Fatimi, so he asked for it from my two sons Ali, so he attended him and resided in Mansouriya near Kairouan, and Ibn Hani’ praised him exaggeratedly.

Books of Ibn Hani

Ibn Hani Al-Andalusi has a famous book called (Diwan of Ibn Hani Al-Andalusi)And he did not leave any trace other than him, except that some historians mentioned that Ibn Hani wrote a book on history that Ismail Pasha al-Baghdadi called the (History of Andalusia)Fuad Sezgin named him B (History of Ibn Hani)And Karl Brockelmann said that this book is still preserved in Fez, but it was not found, just as there are no evidences indicating that what is mentioned is for Ibn Hani; Which makes it stuck between truth and lies.

It is worth noting that some of Ibn Hani's writings that were not included in the old editions of his diwan or in the modern editions of his book have been rectified, but are from the investigation of Muhammad al-Yalawi, who adopted the book of the Ismaili researcher Zahed Ali, entitled: (Explaining the meanings in the explanation of Diwan Ibn Hani); This book is considered one of the most complete printed collections in terms of material and quality in auditing and investigation. Because the researcher relied on a large number of Diwan manuscripts located around the world, and some unique Indian manuscripts.

The death of Ibn Hani

When al-Muizz left for Egypt, he asked Ibn Hani to accompany him to it, so he sought his permission to return to Morocco with the intention of taking his children. He is the man who wanted the poets of the East to be proud of him, as he said, but that was not destined for him.
