The poet Abu al-Qasim al-Shabi learned after graduating from al-Zaytouna University that he had heart disease, which seemed to have been carrying the disease from an early age, until the symptoms of his illness did not appear clear until the year 1929 AD. The doctor was named Mohamed El-Matri, a well-known doctor in Tunisia at the time. He allowed him to marry, but warned him of the danger of exposing him to intellectual and physical stresses caused by marriage. So the young man got married in compliance with his father’s wishes and based on the opinion of the doctor who consulted him.

However, his health deteriorated after marriage for several reasons. It is the development of his illness over time, the weakness of the poet's physical structure, and the bad conditions that surrounded him in his student life, in his marriage, and the death of his father and his young sweetheart.

Al-Shabi received treatment at the hands of a group of cardiologists, who advised him to reside in moderate climatic places, but he did not respond to treatment effectively, and soon severe heart attacks began to hit his heart again and again, and Al-Shabi did not deal well with his illness and its orbits, but he continued to exhaust himself and her stress Without taking into account his health condition, despite his constant movement in the summer of 1932 AD between resorts, hospitals, and resorts, but that did not help him, and his condition worsened in late 1932 AD, and his pain intensified, and he was forced to stay in bed, and he was prevented from reading and writing in search of the utmost comfort for his ailing heart, but his illness still exhausted him even He entered the Italian hospital on the third of October of the year 1934 AD and died there after six days he spent in the hospital at four o’clock in the morning on Monday corresponding to the ninth of November of the same year, and his body was transferred that morning to the Tunisian town of Tozeur and buried there.
