Among the most important elements of free poetry are the following:

  • Topic: It represents the main raw ideas that the poet presents in his poem, and the topic must be clear and specific, and it must also address important ideas so that this gives a justification for the poem’s systems and existence, as the poem is not only a topic, but a topic built from a structure.
  • poem structure: By it, we mean the method that the poet chooses to present and present the topic, and it is the most influential and important element of the poem. Its importance lies in unifying the poem and preventing it from escaping, so that it defines it within a distinctive footnote. The structure has four general characteristics, namely:
    • Cohesion: That the ratio of values, emotional and intellectual values be consistent, so that it does not separate one point and neglect another.
    • hardness: It means that there is a distinction between the structure of the poem and the details within it, such as metaphors for youthfulness, emotional coloring, and intellectual representation. The writer does not put in his poem what is in excess of the need of details so that the poem does not lose its aesthetic value.
    • Efficiency: It means that the poem includes the necessary details so that the reader does not need an external source of information to understand the poem, including the language of the poem, similes and metaphors.
    • tie: There must be a logical equivalence point between the beginning and the end of the intention, and the great reliance here is mainly on the conclusion of the poem.
  • the details: By this element, he means what the poet fills the structure of the poem with from different expressive methods.
  • the weight: It is what the poet chooses from the musical form to present the structure.
