animal in the Qur'an

A group of animals are mentioned in the Holy Qur’an. Some of them were the reality of his creation as an animal, such as the donkey of Al-Uzair, the whale of Yunus, and others, and among them what his apparent form was a plant, such as the staff of Moses - upon him be peace - which was transformed by God’s power into a clear serpent, and among them was the reality of his creation a bird, such as the hoopoe of Solomon, or the bird of Jesus - Peace be upon him - who used to make it out of clay, then blow into it, and it would become a bird, God Almighty willing -, and the Holy Qur’an mentioned some animals abstractly, while others talked about his life in one or more situations in the form of quick flashes, and in what comes a statement of animal stories In the Holy Quran.

Animal stories in the Qur'an

The crow of my son Adam

God Almighty sent the raven to the son of Adam to teach him how to bury the dead, which is a sufficient obligation on people. As God Almighty said: (Have We not made the earth a sufficiency * of the living and the dead), And he said: (Then he put him to death and buried him); A person must be buried, whether he is a Muslim or a non-Muslim, and it may be that God Almighty chose this bird to the exclusion of others to perform this task because the crows learned the method of burial before, or because its black color and what it causes of self-contraction to its beholder is what was the reason for choosing it because The soul is contracted by the death of people, and that is why the Arabs were pessimistic about it, and they saw it as a sign of separation and alienation, or because God Almighty wanted to teach the Muslim not to underestimate those who were below him in status; He learns from everything around him.

Saleh's camel

God Almighty sent Salih, peace be upon him, as a prophet to the tribe of Thamud. He, the Almighty, said: (And indeed, We sent to Thamud their brother, Salih, to worship Allah.)And they asked him for a miracle indicating the truth of his prophecy, and they chose a deaf rock and asked him to get out of it a close-knit camel. That is, ten months have passed since her pregnancy, and they promised him to believe in what he brought if he did what they asked him to do. So Salih - upon him be peace - called on his Lord with that. So the rock moved and a well-bred she-camel came out of it as they had requested, and she stayed among them for a period of time with her young son after she had given birth to him, drinking from the water of the well one day and they drinking from it another day as God Almighty commanded them by saying: (He said this is a camel that has a drink, and you have a drink on a known day).

On the day when the she-camel was drinking, they would milk it and drink from its milk and fill their containers and utensils with it, and God Almighty warned them against harming it because of His saying: (This is the she-camel of God, a sign for you, so leave it to eat on God's land, and do not touch it with harm.)But when they saw this, their stubbornness and disbelief of their Prophet increased, and they wanted to drink from the well water alone. So they decided to kill the she-camel and ordered the most wretched of the tribe to do so. The Almighty said: (When its two brethren were resurrected)And Salih - upon him be peace - had warned them against killing her or causing harm to her. It is a great sign for them, and he reminded them of the blessing of watering its milk, so that they do not meet this blessing that God Almighty bestowed on them with barrenness. The Almighty said: (The Messenger of God said to them, God's she-camel, and water it)But they lied to him and did not listen to his words and killed the she-camel. So God Almighty sent upon them the shout from above them and the tremor from beneath them, so there was no supplication among them left nor an answerer when He said - the Almighty -: (So they lied to him, so their Lord punished them for their sin, so He made it right.).

Joseph's wolf

After Jacob - peace be upon him - authorized his sons to take their brother Joseph - peace be upon him - with them, they went out with him and according to the agreement that was between them, they threw him into the well, but God Almighty threw into the heart of Joseph - peace be upon him - that he had escaped from what he was in, and that he would rise above him. And his brothers need him one day, and in the evening Joseph's brothers returned crying loudly, pretending to be sad to tell their father that the wolf had eaten Joseph, and that they were preoccupied with him by throwing and running away, and knowing that he would not believe what they said, they brought him Joseph's shirt stained with blood, but Jacob - Peace be upon him - verify their lies, for the blood is not the blood of his son, just as the shirt is not torn, and his insight may be what revealed their lies to him. Allah says-: (And they came to their father at dinner crying * They said, O our father, we went to run, and left Joseph with our belongings, and the wolf ate him, and you would not believe us even if we were truthful * and They came upon his shirt with lying blood. He said, “Rather, your souls have asked you a matter, so patience is beautiful, and God is seeking help for what you describe.”.

Yunus whale

Yunus - peace be upon him - went out to the sea to board a ship that would take him away from his people after he became angry and bored with them. So it stopped at sea, and the passengers consulted in the crisis of gravity and agreed to draw lots between them, and whoever was struck by the lot threw them into the sea, so the lot fell on Yunus - peace be upon him - and they did not implement it because he was righteous and of moral character, except that the lot struck him every time, so they did not find To escape from that, they threw it into the sea, and God Almighty commanded a great whale to swallow it without eating its flesh or breaking its bones, and he remained - peace be upon him - in his stomach alive, praising and remembering God - the Almighty - praying that God would save him from the darkness, and he was living - peace be upon him - in three darknesses; The darkness of the night, the darkness of the sea, and the darkness of the belly of the whale, repenting of what he had done of leaving the call of his people and his weary of their disbelief and his lack of patience with them, the Almighty said: (And Dhul-Nun, when he departed in anger and thought that We would not have power over him, then he called out in the darkness: There is no god but You, Glory be to You. Indeed, I was of the wrongdoers.).

And after God Almighty repented of him for his many prayers and glorifications, He, the Exalted and Majestic, answered his prayer. He, the Almighty, said: (and to him we resoponded and saved from the burden and so we save the believers)God Almighty ordered the whale to be thrown onto the coast. So he threw it weak and naked, in need of cover, shade and food. Whom God Almighty bestowed upon him with His grace, he said - the Almighty -: (So We cast him out into the open while he was sick * And We caused a plant to grow over him from a gourd.)By the grace of God - the Most High - that surrounded him, he was rejected out in the open, but he is not reprehensible. He - the Most High - said: (Had it not been that a blessing from his Lord overtook him, he would have been thrown out into the open, and he is blameworthy).

The cow of the Israelites

It was reported on the authority of more than one of the predecessors, such as Ibn Abbas and Ubaidah al-Salmani, that there was an old man among the Children of Israel who had a lot of money, and he had nephews who wished his death to inherit him. So one of them killed him at night and left him on the way, and it was said: At the door of one of them. God Almighty commanded them to slaughter a cow. They did not like that, and Moses - upon him be peace - told them that he only says to them what is revealed to him. The Almighty said: (And when Musa said to his people, "Allah commands you to slaughter a cow," they said, "Do you take us in jest?"Then they asked about its age, color, and characteristics, and if they had slaughtered any cow, the purpose of it would have been fulfilled.

But they emphasized themselves, so God Almighty stressed them. When he commanded them with what his presence was rare, and that is to be a helper; any mediator between the imposition; i.e. big, virgin; That is, the small one, and that its color is bright yellow; That is, imbued with red, and after knowing its age and color, they asked more questions about it. The Almighty said: (They said, "Pray for us your Lord to make clear to us what they are. Cows are similar to us, and we, God willing, will be rightly guided."; God Almighty narrowed them down with the attributes of the cow more. The Almighty said: (He said that he says it is a cow that has no hump to plow the land and does not irrigate the tillage, a Muslim with no blemish on it.)That is, to be submissive means not to plow and water the land, and to be Muslim; that is, true and flawless, and that there is no color in it that contradicts the color of the bright yellow, and they did not find a cow with these characteristics except with a man and he refused to sell it to them at the beginning, and when they wanted him for its price; As they paid ten times its weight in gold, he sold it to them; So they slaughtered her while hesitating about her command. The Almighty said: (They said, "Now I have come with the truth." They slaughtered her, and they almost did not.)،

Then God Almighty commanded them to strike the dead man with some cows. So it was said: With the flesh of her thigh, and it was said: With the bone that follows the cartilage, and it was said: With the small piece between the shoulder blades, and when they did that, God Almighty revived the slain, so the Prophet of God Moses - upon him be peace - asked him about his killer, so he told about him, then he returned dead, and he said - the Almighty -: (So we said, "Strike him together." Thus does God give life to the dead and show you His signs, so that you may understand.).

The snake overturned from the staff of Moses

The stick was one of the great miracles with which God Almighty supported His Prophet Moses - upon him be peace - to be evidence of the truth of his prophecy. The Almighty said: (And what is that in your right hand, O Musa? * He said: It is my staff, I lean on it and I break it against my sheep, and I have other desires with it.)And by the power and greatness of God - the Almighty - the stick becomes a mighty serpent. He - the Almighty - said: (He said, Throw it in, O Musa * So he threw it, and behold, it was alive and running * He said, Take it and do not be afraid, We will restore it to its original path.)And this snake was able to swallow all the magic that Pharaoh’s magicians came with. The Almighty said: (And cast what is in your right hand, and you will catch up with what they have done, but they have made a plot of a magician, and the magician will not succeed wherever he came from)As for the size of the snake and its wide mouth; The Holy Qur’an did not mention that. It is of no use.

Solomon's ant

God Almighty blessed His Prophet Solomon - upon him be peace - by teaching him the language of birds and animals. He, peace be upon him, used to understand them and talk to them. He, the Most High, said: (And he said, O people, we have been taught the utterance of birds, and we have been given everything. Indeed, this is a clear virtue.)And God Almighty blessed him with a great kingdom. As God Almighty made the whole earth submissive to him, so he had an army of humans, jinn and birds, and he organized their actions and appointed them to prevent them from insulting each other, the Almighty said: (And his armies of jinn, men, and birds were gathered for Solomon, and they were dispersed.)And he - peace be upon him - had gone out one day with his soldiers, so he passed through the Valley of the Ants, and he heard an ant advising his fellows to enter their homes so that they would not be crushed under the weight of the feet of Solomon and his soldiers. So he understood what she said and laughed for it. The Almighty said: (Even when they came to the valley of the nose, I said, "O, O, you will enter. This story has several benefits, including the following:

  • The manners of the ant and its pity for its kind: The ant's compassion for its kind appeared when it ordered them to enter their homes so that they would not be crushed under the weight of their feet. They understood that if they destroyed it and its people, they would not feel that, and it would not be intentional on their part, and thus the ant would have repelled the injustice from them, as it was not reckless in what it said despite the frightening situation that it would witness, and it was able to distinguish between the righteous and the wicked.
  • Prohibition of killing ants: It appears that the ants are a nation among the nations, glorifying the Lord of the worlds in a way that only He, the Mighty and Sublime, knows. The Messenger of God - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - said: (An ant bit one of the prophets, so he ordered that the village of ants be burned, so God revealed to him: An ant bit you has burned a nation of people)Therefore, it is not permissible to kill him unless he is harmful or corrupting, and another way has been mentioned for the previous hadith that God Almighty revealed to the Messenger - may God bless him and grant him peace - he said: (so not even one ant); So the words of the Messenger of God - upon him be peace - indicated that what hurts hurts and kills.
  • The prophets smiled: The Messenger of God - may God bless him and grant him peace - was smiling in most of his conditions, and he sometimes laughed more than he smiled and less than his uvula appeared, and when he was amazed a lot he laughed until his molars appeared, and this was rare. Ibn Hibban narrated on the authority of Jabir bin Samra - may God be pleased with him God for him - he said:(The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, when he prayed the dawn prayer, sat in his prayer-place until the sun rose, and they used to sit and talk and deal with the matter of ignorance, so they laughed and he smiled, may God bless him and grant him peace)Solomon - upon him be peace - smiled when he heard the words of the ant, and God Almighty confirmed his smile by saying: (So he smiled laughing at what she said).
  • The guidance of animals is one of the signs of God: Ants are among the best animals, as mentioned by Ibn al-Qayyim. The ant perceives by smell what others perceive by sight or hearing, just as it is distinguished by its high aspiration and daring to transfer what is many times its weight, and each ant is keen on the public interest, so it does not embezzle anything for itself without its companions, and from that are many things in the world of ants, and this is all management and organization. With the guidance of God Almighty.

Hodad Suleiman

Ibn Abbas narrated that Hodhod Suleiman - upon him be peace - was an engineer who knew the location of water inside the desert land *, and he knew how far it was from the face of the earth, and one day Solomon - peace be upon him - came down to the land of the desert. So he wanted the hoopoe, and inspected the bird, but he did not see it, so he threatened him with severe punishment if he did not come to him with an excuse explaining his backbiting. The Almighty said: (And the bird was lost, and he said: What I have not seen the guidance, or was it one of the clouds * I would not be tormented by hardening, or not, or for the sake of it.So the hoopoe came after a short time and informed Solomon - upon him be peace - of his coming with certain news that there is no doubt about it from Yemen, which he and his army did not see. The Almighty said: (So he stayed not long, then he said: I have comprehended what you did not comprehend, and I have come to you from Saba with certain news.)So he told him about a woman who was given a lot of the world's goods, and she had a thousand elephants, under each elephant a hundred thousand fighters, and the number of her advisors reached three hundred and twelve men, and her throne was great, adorned with gold and jewels, and she had everything that an empowered king needs, and this name was The woman is Bilqis, the Almighty said: (Indeed, I found a woman ruling over them, and she was given everything, and she has a mighty throne).

The hoopoe was amazed at the condition of the people of Sheba; They devoted worship to other than Allah - the Most High - and did not thank Him for His many blessings that He bestowed upon them. (I found her and her people prostrating to the sun instead of God, and Satan has made their deeds fair-seeming to them, so he barred them from the path, so they are not guided.)And the Almighty has completed the verses, calling for the worship of God Almighty alone and prostration to Him, for He knows every hidden thing in the heavens and the earth, and He is the one who provides for the servants, and knows what they conceal and what they declare of words and deeds, for He is no god but Him and no creature greater than Him, for He is the Lord. The Great Throne, the Almighty said: (Do they not prostrate to Allah, who brings forth what is hidden in the heavens and the earth, and knows what you conceal and what you reveal? And because the hoopoe was a caller to the monotheism of God Almighty, the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, forbade killing it. Al-Nawawi narrated on the authority of Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with him, that he said: (The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, forbade the killing of four animals: the ant, the bee, the hoopoe, and the shrike.)Among the benefits of this story are the following:

  • The prophets do not know the unseen: Solomon - upon him be peace - had the great kingship and the empowerment that God Almighty supported him with, and despite that he was not aware of the condition of Belqis and her people even with the close distance between them, and he did not know that until the hoopoe informed him of it, and in this is a sign that the prophets do not know the unseen. ; Their condition is like that of the angels in that. He, the Most High, said: (We have no knowledge except what You taught us)And it may be that God Almighty concealed their affairs from Solomon for a benefit that only he knows.
  • Wisdom is the treasure of the believer: The great learns from the young sometimes, and there is nothing wrong with that, and the scholar may learn from the learner if he is certain of the validity of his experience and knowledge. The hoopoe, despite his youth, was surrounded by news that Solomon - upon him be peace - did not know. The truth must be accepted regardless of who brought it.
  • The believer does not forget his religion before the adornment of the world and its adornment: The hoopoe saw the great king and the material decorations and inscriptions of the Queen of Sheba, and this did not tempt him from the duty of slavery, and he was amazed at her disbelief and the disbelief of her people, and the condition of the hoopoe is the condition of every believer who knows the purpose of his creation, and is certain of the demise of the world and its enjoyment; He - the Most High - said: (O my people, this worldly life is only a convenience, and the Hereafter is the abode of decision).
  • The imam accepts the excuse of his subjects and averts their punishment with it: Solomon - peace be upon him - heard the news of the Queen of Sheba and her people from the hoopoe, and he wanted to confirm the news. As the punishment is not carried out unless the accusation is proven, and it is known whether the hoopoe is lying in order to pay the penalty on his behalf, or that he is sincere in his claim, so his excuse will be a reason for his salvation. The Almighty said: (He said they have ratified, we will look, or you liars)And when Solomon - upon him be peace - verified the veracity of the news of the hoopoe, his sincerity became an excuse that saved him from punishment.
  • The imam inspected the conditions of his subjects: Solomon - upon him be peace - was following the conditions of his subjects, and this is evident by his inspection of the birds. Because his busyness did not prevent him from knowing the condition of the hoopoe, despite his young age.

Abraha's elephant and the Ababil bird

Abraha was a king in Yemen, and he was of Ethiopian origin, and he had built a church in Sana'a, which he called Al-Qalis. He wanted to divert the Arab pilgrimage to it, and in order to achieve this, he vowed to destroy the Kaaba, and when he began marching to it with his army, a king of the Himyarite kings called Dhu Nafar, who obeyed his people, came out to him. Abraha fought him and defeated him, and Dhu Nafar asked him to keep him because his support was better for him than killing him, so he kept him and walked with him, and he continued his path towards the Kaaba, and when he approached the country of Khat'am, a leader called Al-Nafeel went out to him with a number of Yemeni tribes and fought Abraha, so he defeated them, and Al-Nafeel asked him not to kill him And to take him as a guide for him in the land of the Arabs, so Abraha agreed to that, and he continued his journey until he reached Taif, so Masoud bin Mutab went out to him with men from Thaqif, telling him that they were his slaves, and that the house he was going to was in a place called Mecca, and that they would send with him someone to guide him; They sent with him a man named Abu Raghal.

And Abd al-Muttalib had learned of the approach of Abraha from Mecca, so he ordered the Quraysh to disperse in the reefs, and Abraha and his army prepared to enter Mecca, and he carried on his elephant what he wanted to carry and directed him to the path, but he stopped and blessed his place, so they took to beating him with a pick on his head and inserted their eyebrows in his peers, and yet he refused to move, and they were If they directed him towards Yemen, he jogged, and if they directed him towards the sanctuary, he stopped, and remained like that until the elephant reached a mountain of the mountains. Then God Almighty sent a bird like a balsam, which is a tree with many leaves, and each bird carries three stones from it. Two in his legs and one in his beak, and one stone is like a grain of chickpeas or lentils, and the birds threw these stones at Abrahah and his army, and no one was hit by those stones but he perished, so those who survived quickly returned and began to fall in every country, and as for Abrahah, God afflicted him with a disease in his body ; His fingertips were falling off one after the other, and he used to create in place of these fingertips pus and blood, until he reached Yemen like a chick of a bird, then he died, and this year was called the Year of the Elephant, the Almighty said: (Did you not see how your Lord did with the companions of the elephant * Did he not make their useful in misleading * and send them a good man *.

Animals mentioned for example

For example, some animals are mentioned in the Qur’an, including the following:

  • Ibrahim's bird: Abraham - upon him be peace - asked his Lord about how to revive the dead, and he loved to see that clearly, so God Almighty inspired him to take four birds, cut them, mix their parts, and put a part on each mountain, then he commanded him - the Almighty - to invite them, and when he called them The parts began to gather together until all the birds were completed, each separately, and it came to walk, and in this miracle is a statement to Abraham - upon him be peace - that God - the Almighty - has power over all things.
  • Al-Uzair donkey: The story mentioned that Al-Uzair passed with his donkey and food for him on a ruined village, so he wondered how God revived it after its death. The sun said that he had stayed a day or part of a day, except that when he looked at his donkey, he found him dead, his flesh had decomposed, and his bones had decayed - a matter that requires many years -, his Lord told him that he had stayed a hundred years, and God Almighty showed him his ability in that his food remained As it was and did not change, then God Almighty revived the donkey in plain view of his beholder. that he created him and breathed the soul into him; So the donkey got up and returned to life as it was, so Al-Uzair knew that God Almighty has power over everything.
  • earth beast: God gave Solomon - upon him be peace - a great kingdom, and he had power over the wind, animals, jinn, and other creatures. Unseen This was represented in the fact that Solomon died without anyone knowing of his death; When he died leaning on his stick, and the jinn, like other soldiers and servants of Solomon, look at him and think that he is alive, then they return to engage in their work that he assigned them to until the earth beast ate the stick on which Solomon stands, so Solomon fell, and only then are people certain that the jinn do not know the unseen, and that if they They knew the unseen when they remained obedient to Solomon with their knowledge of his death.
