The importance of solar energy

Earth

The Earth is one of the planets in the solar system known for the presence of life on its surface. This is due to many reasons, the most important of which is solar energy that reaches the surface of the Earth in a certain proportion. The sun is the primary source of energy on the surface of the Earth, from which many different phenomena arise.

The importance of solar energy in the existence of life

The existence of life on the surface of the Earth and the influence of solar energy on this are the most important advantages that the sun provides to the Earth and its inhabitants. The thermal energy arriving from the Sun helps keep the Earth’s atmosphere warm, while the atmosphere surrounding the Earth helps in preserving this energy in an appropriate amount.

Solar energy is also an important factor for animals and plants alike, as the process of photosynthesis in plants only takes place in the presence of this energy, without which the oxygen that all living organisms breathe on the surface of the planet would not remain in balanced proportions, so the process of photosynthesis converts carbon dioxide To oxygen again so that living organisms can breathe it.

As for the light provided by sunlight, can you imagine life on Earth without that light? Even the faint light that reaches us at night from the moon is due to the reflection of the sun's rays on the surface of the moon. Without that light, the Earth would be in complete darkness, in addition to the importance of solar energy in the water cycle in nature, as it is the main factor in this cycle and many others.

Many of the substances necessary for human survival are also created by sunlight, such as vitamin D, for example, which is of great importance in human enjoyment of health.

The importance of solar energy as renewable energy

Man has begun to benefit from everything around him since he was found on the surface of the Earth, and the same applies to solar energy, which has become the focus of attention in human development around clean and renewable energy. Since the industrial revolution, the demand for various forms of energy has increased tremendously, and fossil fuels have become the first choice. However, the harm posed by this fuel and its lack of sustainability led to looking at other sources of energy, and solar energy was the first of these sources, as it is renewable energy that is inexhaustible, and it is also clean energy.

Even if we look at other forms of renewable energy, their origin will be solar energy. Wind energy, for example, is formed by solar energy, as the sun’s rays reach different areas on the Earth’s surface in unequal quantities. The equator, for example, is heated more than the poles, which It causes differences in atmospheric pressure, and thus causes the movement of wind on the surface of the Earth. Thus, the main reason behind the movement of wind that is used as renewable energy is solar energy.

The same applies to using rivers and waterfalls as a source of renewable energy, as most rivers continue to flow as a result of the water cycle in nature and the rainfall at the rivers’ sources. Rain would not have occurred if the sun’s rays had not evaporated them in the first place from the surface of the Earth.
