Protecting wildlife

Risks to wildlife

There are many plant and animal species that will become extinct within a few decades as a result of several factors, the most important of which are:

  • Overfishing.
  • Climate change.
  • Human overpopulation.
  • Habitat loss.
  • Poaching.
  • pollution.
  • Overexploitation of animals and natural resources.
  • Acidic oceans.

Human role in threatening wildlife

Humans are currently causing the largest mass species extinction since the extinction of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago, at a rate 1000 to 10000 times faster than the natural rate; There are 817 species threatened with extinction in the world out of 19 species examined; That is, one third of the total number is threatened with extinction, and the threatened species are distributed as follows: 83737% of amphibians, 41% of corals, 33% of conifers, 30% of mammals, 25% of birds, and one in five plant species.

Ways to save wildlife

The most important ways to save wildlife are the following:

  • Volunteering in organizations concerned with protecting wildlife, such as cleaning beaches or rescuing wild animals.
  • Do not buy products made from endangered animals or their parts.
  • Putting trash in its place; As garbage pollutes natural resources.
  • Recycling.
  • Help reduce the threat of habitat destruction by cleaning beaches and planting native trees.
  • Turn off the insect zapper; Because it attracts distant insects and kills them, this deprives types of living organisms such as frogs, spiders and lizards of their food. This can be replaced by applying insect spray on the body.

The importance of protecting wildlife

Protecting some species of organisms affects the support and survival of other species, and it also protects entire landscapes or marine areas, so it is important to protect them, to make the world regain its natural balance.
