massage therapy

Massage, which falls under the bodywork division, involves moving muscles and other soft tissues. It is useful in treating a wide range of health conditions, including: muscle cramps, pain from wounds, and headaches.

Massage works to relieve pain in a number of ways: by improving muscle relaxation by increasing lymph circulation and thus reducing inflammation, by reducing scars and adhesions in the tissues, by improving blood flow to the muscles, and by improving the drainage of fluids from the cavities.

Massage is not recommended for everyone. Those who suffer from phlebitis, high blood pressure, or vascular problems should not receive any type of deep muscle massage that results in strong pressure.

Always be in touch with your doctor to receive a deep muscle massage. Massage should not be performed on inflamed areas or with people suffering from cancer or infectious diseases

Different types of massage treatments are used. Each is based on a different theory and uses specialized technology. The following body work systems represent some of the most common:

  • Deep tissue massage. It is used to release chronic muscle pressure. Deep tissue massage uses greater pressure on deeper muscles than traditional Swedish massage.
