What God tortured people returned

add's people

The people of Ad are considered among the Arab Arabs, and they were in their time the strongest and greatest of nations, which pushed them towards tyranny, arrogance, and idolatry. God said in explaining that: (As for Ad, they were arrogant in the land unjustly, and said, "Who is stronger than us in strength?"They are attributed to Aad bin Iram bin Aws bin Sam bin Noah, peace be upon him, and Aad was the first to worship idols after the call of Noah, peace be upon him, and when they were in this state of worshiping idols, God sent them their brother Hood calling them and warning them of their actions, and they lived in a city called Iram God Almighty said about it: (Have you not seen how your Lord did to Aad * throw that same pillar, the like of which was not created in the country).

The people of Ad were on a high degree of sophistication in urbanization and construction, and their homes and dwellings were extremely magnificence, creativity and beauty, and their lands were green gardens in which livestock grazed and increased, and thus money overflowed and children multiplied, the Almighty said: (He provided you with livestock and children* and gardens and eyes)And with the gathering of all this bliss for them, they lived a life of luxury and preoccupation with the world, and they were raising their buildings and boasting about it without the need for it, but rather for the sake of bragging and arrogance, and they increased the building of the very tall towers in order to immortalize their name in the worlds, and despite all that God has blessed with. However, they insisted on being arrogant against God Almighty, so they associated with Him the worship of idols, just as injustice and oppression spread among them, so God sent them a hood, peace be upon him, to invite them to single him out for worship, and to leave what they were upon of idolatry, and to remind them of the blessings of God Almighty and His kindness to them, and command them By seeking forgiveness and repentance for their actions, except that they lied to him and mocked him, and chose the path of passion, stubbornness, and denying God's messengers and His signs.

The torment of the people returned

When a people lied, their Messenger returned and mocked him and refused to submit to the call of God Almighty and to submit to Him, as He, Glory be to Him, told in the Noble Qur’an: (And that is Ad. They denied the signs of their Lord and disobeyed His Messengers, and followed the command of every stubborn tyrant.)God willed that the torment descend upon them, so their torment was as the Qur’an told of the wind that God Almighty sent upon them, as God Almighty withheld the rain from them for a period of time until their land was barren and they began to wait for the rain and wait for it, then God sent them a cloud that began to approach them, and when they saw it they thought That the rain had come, and they rejoiced and rejoiced in that, to the extent that they said: (This is a rainy day)However, God Almighty made it clear that that cloud was not rain as they thought, but rather a punishment from Him, and that is in His saying, the Most High: (In fact, it is what you hastened with, a wind in which is a painful chastisement).

And that wind actually descended on them, so God gave it seven nights and eight days decisively, and it never stopped them for a moment, and it was all a sterile wind with nothing of goodness or blessing, so it did not pollinate the trees and did not carry any rain, rather it was very cold, and its voice was terrifying, terrifying God Almighty described it by saying: (It destroys everything by order of its Lord)He also described it by saying: (You don't leave anything on it except that you make it like ruins)The results of this wind and that torment were severe and disastrous for the people of Ad. Where she destroyed everything, and she used to carry the man from them high, then set him back on his head, and he was cut off from his body, until they became as God Almighty described: (So you will see the people lying there as if they were the empty trunks of palm trees)And so they perished and were all killed, so none of them remained, and their dwellings became empty, and no trace of them could be seen except for them. The Most High said: (So they became not visible except their dwellings)Then they were followed by a curse in this world and a curse in the Hereafter, and they were an example for those who are considered after them.

Lessons and lessons from the story of the people of Ad

There are great lessons in the story of the people of Ad and their Messenger Hood, peace be upon him, including the following:

  • The necessity of relying on God Almighty and resorting to Him. This is what God’s Prophet Hood, peace be upon him, did when he saw his people denying and enmity towards him, and he had no power over them, so he delegated his command to God Almighty, and asked Him for victory, help and support.
  • God never neglects the wrongdoers, rather He lures them in, gives them respite, and keeps awaiting them until He seizes them and destroys them.
  • The victory of God, the Blessed and Exalted, and His support for the righteous believers may be delayed, but that is only due to a wisdom that the Almighty wanted, and then His victory comes at the appropriate time.
  • Victory does not come except with patience and deliberation, and hardship must precede ease.
  • Asking for victory and aid from God Almighty is the approach of the Messengers, peace be upon them. When his people denied him, Hud, peace be upon him, asked for victory from God Almighty, so he said as it came in the Holy Qur’an: (My Lord, help me because of what they deny).
  • Repentance to God Almighty and His forgiveness for the sins that man has committed are the cause of security and prosperity for him. Hood, peace be upon him, said to his people as stated in the Holy Qur’an: (O my people, ask forgiveness from your Lord, then repent to Him. He sends the heavens upon you, and increases you in strength to your strength.).
  • Man's power, tyranny, and tyranny, no matter how high and high, cannot avert or prevent God's punishment.
