Types of urine bacteria

Types of urine bacteria

Urine does not normally contain bacteria, and a small, harmless number may be present in some healthy people. In general, the presence of bacteria and a high number of bacteria may indicate a urinary tract infection (in English: Urinary Tract Infections). In fact, the type of bacteria causing a tract infection varies. Urinary tract infection varies depending on the type of infection. In this context, it is indicated that it is possible to detect the type of bacteria through urine analysis and culture. The following is a statement of the types of organisms that cause urinary tract infections according to the type of infection:

Bladder infection and pyelonephritis

Bladder infection (in English: Cystitis) or infection of the pelvis and kidney (in English: Pyelonephritis) is attributed to two main types of bacteria: They are Gram-negative aerobic bacteria, which are considered the most common, and Gram-positive bacteria, which are considered the least common. This can be detailed according to the person’s condition as follows:

  • Cases of infection without hospitalization: Strings of Escherichia coli bacteria may be responsible for the infection in most cases, and as for the remaining Gram-negative bacteria that cause urinary system diseases, they are usually represented by other types of intestinal bacteria. Such as Klebsiella, Proteus mirabilis, or Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It should be noted that Staphylococcus saprophyticus represents the forms of Gram-positive bacteria that cause urinary tract infections. More compared to other bacteria of the same group.
  • Hospital admissions: If hospitalized, this infection is attributed to several types of bacteria, and the percentage of infection with these types is as follows:
    • Escherichia coli 50%.
    • Klebsiella, Proteus mirabilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacter, Pseudomonas bacteria, and Serratia by 40%.
    • Enterococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus, 10%.

Urethritis is caused by bacteria that enter the urethra through the skin surrounding the urethral opening. Below is a statement of the most prominent types of bacteria that cause this condition:
