Symptoms of kidney infection

Kidney infection is represented by inflammation of the renal tubules (in English: Nephritis), which represent the basic units of the kidney, and there are a number of different symptoms that may accompany kidney infection, including the following:

  • Note the decrease in the amount of urine during urination.
  • Urine changes color to red or darker than that as a result of accompanying blood.
  • A change in urination pattern.
  • Swelling occurs in different parts of the body, especially in the face, hands, feet, and ankles.
  • Discharge of cloudy urine.
  • overweight.
  • Hypertension.

Causes of inflammation of the kidneys

The main cause of kidney infection may not be clear in some cases, and some scientists believe that the risk of infection may increase if there is a family history of kidney infection. As for other reasons that may lead to kidney inflammation, we mention the following:

  • Infection with some types of infections, such as HIV infection, and hepatitis B and C virus infection.
  • Taking some types of medications such as antibiotics, taking a large amount of pain relievers, and diuretics.

In some cases, kidney infection may be accompanied by a number of health complications, including the following:

  • High blood cholesterol, which in turn increases the risk of heart disease and stroke.
  • Hypertension.
  • Albuminuria, which is foamy urine.
  • Hematuria (in English: Haematuria).
  • Anemia (in English: Anaemia), which may be accompanied by a feeling of fatigue and shortness of breath.
  • Ascites (in English: Oedema), which is the accumulation of fluid in the extremities and face.
  • Kidney failure, which may lead to the need for dialysis or a kidney transplant.
