Random sugar analysis

Random sugar analysis

Glucose sugar is considered the main energy source in the body. After the body obtains it, the cells consume it to convert it into energy. In order for the sugar to reach it, the pancreas must secrete the hormone insulin, as it is responsible for introducing it to the various cells of the body, including the brain, muscles, and others. It is worth noting. In type 1 diabetes, the immune system attacks their pancreatic cells, causing them to lose their ability to secrete insulin, while type 2 diabetes patients suffer from high blood sugar levels, either because the body does not produce the insulin it needs, or because the body’s cells do not respond to the secreted insulin. In any case, random blood glucose testing is used to evaluate blood sugar levels randomly without conditions or controls.

Interpreting the results of random sugar analysis

As we mentioned previously, a random sugar test measures blood sugar levels at any time of the day, and if the result of this test is 200 mg/dL or more, then this result is considered outside the acceptable normal range, and the person is considered eligible to be diagnosed with diabetes.

Reasons for performing a random blood sugar test

There are many things that require performing a random sugar test, including monitoring blood sugar levels if suffering from diabetes. In such cases, the patient should monitor the symptoms of low blood sugar, and if he suspects the appearance of any of them, he should conduct this test to avoid complications. Which may result from this decrease. On the other hand, a diabetic patient should perform this test periodically to monitor blood sugar levels and ensure that they are within acceptable limits in order to avoid the patient suffering from complications of diabetes.
