Preserving biodiversity

Biodiversity

Biodiversity or biodiversity is one of the things that characterize the nature of the planet Earth. Biodiversity is the diversity and spread of life forms on the surface of the earth, as we find on the surface of the earth many types of plants, animals, insects, bacteria and other different organisms.

Living organisms on Earth's surface need to interact with non-living elements in nature, and as a result of this need, biodiversity is as large as possible at the equator, so the non-living nature elements present in that region are suitable for biodiversity such as heat, sunlight, water, and soil. Fertile and others, we find tens of thousands of different species of plants, animals, insects and microorganisms at the equator, unlike the frozen poles, in which biodiversity is greatly reduced.

The threat to biodiversity

Biodiversity on the surface of the earth suffers from many different risks, most of which stem from the brutal and ill-conceived behavior of man and the damage he has inflicted and is still inflicting on nature on the surface of the earth. Man has destroyed many areas on the surface of the earth for urban and industrial expansion. Many trees are randomly and uninformed, especially in tropical forests, in order to obtain timber.

In addition, the pollution inflicted by man on all environmental elements on earth, such as air, water, soil, and others, led to climate change and the destruction of the environment suitable for the existence of biodiversity, and this is in addition to the indiscriminate hunting practiced by man on animals that exceeds his need. These and many other things eventually led to Extinction of many organisms and the threat of extinction of many other organisms.

ways to conserve biodiversity

In order to preserve biodiversity on the surface of the earth, we must get rid of the causes that threaten this diversity, and the following are some ways through which we can preserve biodiversity:

  • Cutting trees in a deliberate manner and according to human needs, and not buying wood except from sources that cut wood in this way.
  • Reducing various forms of pollution, whether on a personal level or in general, which begins with a commitment to reducing, reusing and recycling waste, not using chemicals harmful to living organisms and the environment, and saving energy, as most of the energy is produced at the present time by burning oil derivatives, which is Things that lead to increased pollution in the environment, and thus destroy the nature suitable for the existence of biodiversity on the surface of the earth.
  • The use of renewable and clean energy and environmentally friendly products.
  • Buying organic foods, which contributes to reducing the use of chemicals, fertilizers, and others in the production of foods, whether animal or vegetable.
  • Avoid urban expansion in areas of great biodiversity, in which plants and trees abound, and expansion in desert areas and unexploited areas.
  • Avoiding poaching, not hunting endangered animals, and giving all living creatures the opportunity to reproduce.
