The life of Mustafa Wehbe Al-Tall

Mustafa Wehbe Al-Tall is one of the most important Jordanian and Arab poets. He lived in the period between 1899 and 1949. He was called the poet of Jordan and Arar. His poetry was known for its quality and sobriety and for its resistance to injustice and colonialism. He was born in Irbid and was named Mustafa after his grandfather. He lived and received his primary education there and then traveled to Damascus. In 1912, he continued his education at Anbar School. During this period of study, he participated with his colleagues in the resistance movements against Turkish colonialism at the time. Because of his participation, he was exiled to Beirut, but he soon returned and returned to Damascus again, and in 1916, Mustafa returned to Irbid to spend his studies. During the summer vacation, sharp disagreements arose between him and his father, forcing him to stay in Irbid and work in a school his father had opened there.

The disputes continued between Mustafa and his father, so he left Irbid and immigrated with a friend of his, intending to Istanbul, but did not reach it. He settled in Arabkir with his uncle, who was acting as the governor there, and he worked there as a second deputy teacher for the Eskişehir district, but his stay there did not last long, so he submitted his resignation and returned to Irbid in 1919 AD, and he was able to convince his father and some of his colleagues of the necessity of returning to Damascus and studying there, so he returned there at the beginning of the academic year 1919-1920. He also returned to work in the national student movements until he was exiled to Aleppo, and he completed his secondary studies there, in addition to learning the Turkish and Persian languages. .

Positions of Mustafa Wehbe Al-Tall

After his return to Jordan, he held several positions. He worked as a teacher in Karak and other regions of Jordan. He also worked as an administrative governor in the regions of Wadi al-Seer, Zarqa, and Shobak. He also worked in the Jordanian judiciary since 1933 AD, then he worked as an inspector in the Jordanian Ministry of Education before he was appointed. Head of ceremonies at the High Court, then he practiced the legal profession in 1942 AD.

The works of Mustafa Wehbe Al-Tall

One of the most important works of Mustafa Wahbi Al-Tall in poetry is the collection of poems, The Evenings of Wadi Al-Yabis, and one of his most important studies, which he conducted on Al-Rafah and Al-Banin in partnership with Khalil Nasr, in addition to his famous articles, Arar’s Political Papers, and his translation of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam.
