Life in the deep sea

deep sea

The depths of the sea or the deep layer is a term that symbolizes the lower layer in the ocean. It is located at a depth of 1800 metres. A small amount of light penetrates this depth, or may not penetrate it at all. Many living organisms live there, which depend for their food on the materials found in them. In this article, we will mention some details about life in the deep sea in general.

Life in the deep sea

In the years 1872 AD and 1876 AD, an exploratory mission arrived on board the Challenger ship, which wanted to prove the discoverer Pliny wrong, who said that there is no life in the depths of the seas. Deep nets and bulldozers were able to extract many living organisms, and at the beginning of the twentieth century scientists began to imagine life. Existing in the depths of the sea, they thought it was not true, and the reason is that it is impossible for creatures to live in this extreme cold, but the opposite has been proven, as it has been found that there are different marine creatures living there.

In the year 1960 AD, the Trieste submarine dived into the Mariana Trench on the island of Guam, at a depth of about 35798 feet, which is considered one of the deepest points in the oceans. Small fish were seen in it, moving away from the lights on the submarine. Then the ship retired and became a vehicle. The Japanese Rove is the only ship capable of reaching the depths of the oceans, but in 2003 it was lost at sea.

In May and June 2009, the Hrov vehicle was sent to the depths of the sea, which confirmed the existence of life in the depths of the seas, and that the animals and organisms in them depend mainly on thermal sources and hydrogen sulfide, which is one of the high-density gases that provide safety for animals and organisms.

Heat and cold in the oceans

The temperature of the sea surface is considered close to the temperature of the Earth, which varies depending on its location from the equator to the south and north. Therefore, it is noted that when you go deeper into the water, the water temperature decreases.

Animals and plants found in the depths of the sea

The animals found in the depths of the sea have been estimated in an infinite number, including: bacteria, microscopic organisms, fish, invertebrates, which are distinguished by their different colors and types, and others. As for plants, there are no types of plants, and the reason is the lack of light in them.

Deep sea pressure

The great pressure present at the surface of the sea cannot be ignored, and for this reason most creatures are characterized by their gelatinous skin, which greatly helps them to resist the pressure present at the depth of the sea, such as: octopus, and fish eyes, which are distinguished by their sharp teeth.
