Farming

Agriculture is considered a science, an industry, and the art of producing crops beneficial to humans, whether animal or vegetable. The definition of agriculture is considered a modern definition, given that it is an independent science. In ancient times, agriculture was viewed as the process of sowing seeds in the soil only, then leaving them until the time came to harvest them under natural conditions. Global agriculture is classified into three main sections, which are:

  • Advanced agricultureIn this type of agriculture, new and modern methods of production are used. Which helps satisfy the residents’ desires.
  • Traditional (backward) agricultureIn this type of agriculture, old and undeveloped production methods are used. In order to produce traditional crops that barely satisfy the population’s desire.
  • Developing agriculture: This type of agriculture falls between traditional and advanced agriculture. It balances the traditional desires of the population and the use of modern methods of crop production.

The concept of geographical agriculture includes a group of things that must be present, the most important of which are:

  • The need for a person to settle in a fixed place.
  • Organizing and preparing the field; In order to produce crops and raise animals.
  • Taking care of crops and raising animals.
  • Interest in increasing production and improving its quality.

Learn agriculture

Before starting to learn agriculture, a number of things must be available, the most important of which is good soil, whether it is in a pot or in a garden, in addition to the availability of tree seedlings and the necessary equipment for agriculture, as well as organic fertilizer. After all of these things are available, we can begin learning Cultivation through the following steps:

  • Cleaning the soil from harmful weeds, adding organic fertilizer to it, and mixing it with soil (plowing the soil), especially if the soil is hard and has not been cultivated for years.
  • Give an appropriate period to the soil; Until the fertilizer decomposes in it, then search for the type of crop suitable for the soil and the area in which it is to be grown.
  • Preparing the seedlings and seeds to be planted, and knowing the number of seedlings needed in the area to be planted, by carefully calculating the distances between the seedlings, with the distance between each seedling or tree being approximately five meters; This is so that there will be no crowding in the trees when they grow and grow in the future.
  • Plant the seeds carefully, by leaving a distance of one meter from the seedling trunks. This is so that the roots of the seedlings are not harmed during the plowing process.
  • Knowing the sources of water that will be used in the irrigation process.
  • Planting seeds in more than one way, depending on their season and type. As for trees, the method of planting them is the same.
  • Paying attention to the dates of irrigation of seedlings and trees, in addition to paying attention to protecting crops from agricultural pests. It is protected through the following steps:
    • Removing harmful weeds from the stems of seedlings and germinating seeds.
    • Getting rid of plants infected with agricultural pests, and keeping them away from other plants.
    • Removing dry branches; So that it does not become a good place for agricultural pests to grow.
    • Spraying plants with organic pesticides after inspecting them and making sure they are infected with harmful insects.
  • Maintaining effective communication with everything new in the world of modern agriculture; This is with the aim of benefiting from, caring for, and cultivating plants.

Planting trees

The majority of trees, as well as citrus fruits, are planted in the winter, at a time when the land becomes semi-dry. Trees are planted through the following steps:

  • Dig a hole half a meter deep in the dirt, put fertilizer in it, and water it well. Clay soil mixed with fertilizer can be placed if the soil is sandy.
  • Place the seedling in the soil, and cover it with dirt, making sure to compact it well.
  • Stabilizing the seedling through a stalk or support placed before placing the soil, and tied to the stem.
  • Irrigate the seedling with water well.

Planting seeds

When growing plants from seeds, we must provide special containers for planting them, then place them in a warm place with access to the sun, and learn the appropriate method for planting seeds. We must follow the following steps:

  • We put field soil, or ready-made soil, in a clean container. We also add a little organic fertilizer to the soil, and level the soil on the corners of the container well.
  • We put a little dirt on top of the fertilizer that was added to the soil in the previous step, and level it again, making sure to compact it a little.
  • We place the seeds on a folded white sheet of paper, and hit the bottom with your finger. So that the seeds fall evenly on the soil, provided that these seeds move away from the edge of the pot.
  • We cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil. So you can grow better.
  • After planting the seeds, we place a piece of cloth directly over the pot, so that it does not touch the dirt, and we remove it as soon as the seedlings emerge.
  • We cover the container with glass (greenhouse), after the seedlings begin to emerge from the soil.
  • We transfer the seedlings after they have semi-strong roots to a new pot. To distribute it, and give it a chance to grow without crowding, we must pay attention to the way it is carried while transporting it. These small seedlings are carried through their leaves.

Tree care
