The art of writing and expression

How to write a cookbook

Create a book map

The individual must formulate ideas for the recipes he wants to display in the book, determine the number of recipes he wants to put in it, and be careful to divide them into chapters. After setting this initial plan, he must deal with it flexibly, as many changes in these chapters and recipes will occur with time. Some recipes may be deleted or changed, and a few will remain the same, and this list will be developed all the time. Therefore, making an initial plan is the best way to start writing, which will help a lot to avoid repeating the methods of recipes that are developed, or the flavors.

Develop special recipes

It is preferable not to assume any recipes from other sources, as there are many old recipes found in most cookbooks, and many new recipes that have been developed by culinary specialists, so it is preferable for the writer to develop a new method for recipes, and not to violate the copyrights of others, as he mentioned. There are ethical standards for correct recipes, set by the International Association of Culinary Professionals, to adhere to.

Steps for writing recipes

There are some steps that help in preparing a cookbook, including:

  • Take detailed notes about each step. It is easy to forget details, so it is necessary to write down some important notes, such as: writing down the ingredients and the time it takes to cook.
  • Prepare a table of ingredients. When all the information needed by the person preparing the recipe is not available, the results will not be good. It is preferable to list the ingredients in the order used during the cooking process, and put the most important at the top, in addition to listing some important tasks.
  • Maintain clear writing, and avoid long sentences and unnecessary terminology, so that the reader can quickly take in information about the recipe and see what will follow during the steps.
