How to make a fan

fan

The fan is a type of electrical device that is used for ventilation to reduce the high temperature of the air to secure a comfortable atmosphere. The fan simply consists of an electric motor, the ends of which are attached to blades or blades. When this motor rotates, these blades move in a circular motion to generate air currents by moving the existing air.

The working principle of the fan

Any fan operates on the principle of generating a difference in pressure and thus expelling air from the side of the higher pressure towards the lower pressure that results from the movement of the blades or blades. And because of the displacement of the air from the side of the inclined surface of the vane, the pressure rises on one of the surfaces, generating a partial vacuum on the parallel surface of the vane. Since the pressure is equal, it pushes a quantity of air far from the empty surface of air towards it to fill this void, as this process continues with fan rotation movement.

Fans are generally characterized by the production of air currents in a large amount, but with low pressure (i.e. the forward pressure resulting from the process of pushing the air), unlike compressors, which produce relatively high pressure with a lower flow, the fans can work in reverse, i.e. rotate if an air current is pushed Towards its blades, and here this method is called wind turbines (turbines).

How to make a fan

We can make a simple fan using some of the equipment and materials available at home, as follows:

the required materials

  • Small medicine box.
  • USB cable.
  • dynamo
  • CD number 2.
  • Column to install the fan.

Steps

  • We untwist the (USB) wire, remove the black and red wires from it, and leave the other side until we put it in the electricity source.
  • We flip the head of the can so that we can pass the motor wire from it.
  • We stick the motor (dynamo) to the box after passing the wire.
  • We stick the CD on the front of the case.
  • We heat the CD, then we separate it into two parts, then we take the transparent part from it.
  • We cut this part and make it into the shape of fan blades using heating it with fire.

Types of fans

  • Axial fans: Here, the air flow is parallel to the axis, such as cooling fans in home refrigerators, computer fans, ventilation fans, and ceiling fans.
  • Centrifugal fans: here the air is pushed towards the axis and then distributed vertically.
  • Crossflow fan: so that the air flows perpendicular to the axis, as it enters from one corner and exits from another angle, and is used in central air conditioners.
