Examination of hair porosity

The porosity of the hair can be checked by washing the hair in the usual way and products, and making sure that it is washed well, and that all traces of shampoo or conditioner are completely removed from it, then dry the hair with a soft towel, taking care to avoid overdrying, then take a lock of hair and pass it between the fingers to know the porosity. If the hair was wet and sticky, its porosity was high. If it was wet without feeling sticky, its porosity was medium, and in the case of dry hair, its porosity was low.

After that, a tuft of hair is placed in a relatively large bowl of water so that the hair does not stick to its sides, then the movement of the tuft is monitored inside it. Medium porosity, and it should be noted here that the porosity may be affected by weather factors, whether it is wet or dry, which requires re-testing in different climatic conditions.

Assessment of hair density

Many people make the mistake of distinguishing between hair density and thickness, and automatically assume that thick hair is necessarily thick hair, and this is refuted by stylists and hair care professionals, who stress that there is a complete difference between them, and to facilitate the distinction between them and infer the type of hair based on them, tests can be carried out different measures of each characteristic.

Hair density can be determined by separating the hair from each other and observing the visible part of the scalp. If it is seen clearly, this indicates that you have light hair. If the scalp is difficult to see and only a few are visible, then the hair is described as thick.

Perform a thread test

The thread test measures the thickness of the hair quantitatively expressed in the diameter of a single hair. The thickness of the hair is medium, but if the thread is thicker than the hair, the hair can be judged to be thin, and the hair is thick if it is found that the thread is thinner than the hair.
