Chicken is considered one of the most popular types of meat on Arab tables. Due to its low price, delicious taste, and ease of preparation in many different ways, the recipes that are popular with family members mostly contain chicken.

Because the chicken is subjected to the slaughtering, packaging, and other stages, it must be contaminated to different degrees, and washing the chicken more than once, and in more than one way, usually eliminates the germs, if they really exist.

 

Hot water and salt to wash the chicken:

After cleaning the chicken with cold water, and getting rid of the skin and excess feathers, heat the water, then sprinkle salt in it, and soak the chicken in it for an hour. This method gets rid of the blood stuck inside the body of the chicken, and the function of salt is to remove dark spots in the chicken, and help quickly clean it.

Cold water and lemon:

Wash the chicken well with water more than once, clean it of excess, then rub it in the lemon, leave it in it for a short time to get rid of the scum, then remove the lemon and wash again.

 

Lemon and tomatoes:
  • Must wash chicken Water well, then add the lemon and the tomatoes cut into small pieces.
  • We rub the chicken in the mixture, so it smells good, and leave it until the mixture penetrates it, then we wash it well with water again, and it is ready to cook.

Flour:
  • It is considered one of the most popular methods for cleaning chicken, as the flour removes all the bad blood stuck to the internal body of the chicken.
  • It saves us from the exhalation resulting from the smell of blood and feathers, and when rubbing the chicken with it, it saves us from small feathers. It is preferable to wash it with flour more than once, as this is the most effective way to clean the chicken, and wash it well.

 

Vinegar and mint:
  • Wash the chicken well in water; Until we get rid of the feathers and blood, then we add vinegar and mint to it.
  • We rub the chicken inside and out, then soak it in the mixture for no less than half an hour, after which we rinse the chicken with water again. If we notice a smell in the exhale, repeat the process again.

 

Cardamom, lemon and oil:

Cardamom can be added to the chicken while washing it, as cardamom works to eliminate odors and germs spread while cleaning the chicken. After washing it well with water, add the mixture of cardamom, lemon, and a little oil, and leave it, and you will notice the effectiveness of this method.

Common mistakes in cooking chicken

Improper practices may lead to serious diseases.

  • Wash the container in which raw meat was kept before using it again.
  • Avoid placing frozen meat on the table, as exposed surfaces are the most likely places for bacteria to collect.
  • Avoid washing meat or poultry before freezing it, because fresh meat contains a good amount of water. This will lead to water freezing on the meat.
  • Do not leave meat outside the refrigerator for a long time, so that it does not spoil and lead to poisoning.
