How did life begin on earth

The beginning of life on Earth

Two hypotheses have emerged about the origin of life on Earth. The first hypothesis says that life on Earth was transmitted from another planet, and the second hypothesis says that life formed on its own after passing through several stages.

Geologists and astronomers say that it took billions of years for the emergence of life on Earth, after the Earth cooled and its seas, mountains, and atmosphere formed, during which the Earth was exposed to major developments and events, and its conditions became prepared for life on it. Life existed on it with a divine secret, the truth of which is known only to those who created it.

The human mind that God gave to man began to think, trying to explain this great divine ability, and with inspiration from God Almighty, he was guided to the conclusion that life on planet Earth passed through successive stages, which are:

Stages of life on Earth

  • The first appearance of life was on water bodies of oceans, seas, and swamps, where water mixed with dirt, forming clay.
  • The clay rotted and bacteria, fungi, and other very tiny organisms were formed that cannot be seen with the naked eye.
  • Plants and animals emerged from these microorganisms.
  • Plant cells appeared that depend on sunlight to obtain the energy necessary for their lives.
  • The bodies of animals began to form, surrounding themselves with a spiral wall. This is the first stage in which creatures that depend on water, air, and sun began to appear.
  • The cells continued to grow and develop until the bodies of water became teeming with these creatures and the surface of the earth was covered with plants.
  • The emergence of animals relying on plants for food, and all of these stages did not include humans.

What proves these stages from the point of view of scholars is the Almighty’s saying: “Why do you not hope for dignity in God when He created you in stages?” God Almighty has spoken the truth. Scientific theory says that man is the son of the Earth, believing in the Almighty’s saying, “From it We created you, and to it We will return you, and from it We will bring you out another time.” However, there are details that do not apply to the generality of these verses.

The stages of geological eras that the Earth went through

  • The first geological eras indicate that the seas were full of soft organisms, approximately millions of years ago.
  • The land was flooded with water and its retreat several times, which led to the further development of life and the emergence of fish, amphibians, and animals.
  • The emergence of violent earth movements, including volcanoes and earthquakes, formed continental mountain ranges, and reptiles and dinosaurs appeared.
  • Temperatures rose, followed by the arrival of the ice age on Earth, the receding of the sea, and the appearance of mammals. At the end of this era, man appeared after the conditions of his life had been prepared, all of this with the will and ability of a great Creator who is capable of everything.
