Some home remedies that can be used to treat a runny nose:

  • Rinsing the mouth with water and salt: A solution of water and salt disinfects the throat and soothes the irritation it suffers. This is done by mixing half a spoonful of salt with lukewarm water and rinsing the mouth with it.
  • Baking soda: The patient is advised to mix a teaspoon of salt with a cup of water and baking soda and spray the mixture into both nostrils.
  • Maintain intake of warm fluids and water to keep the throat moist.
