How do I cook lupine?

Lupine is one of the plants that belong to the leguminous family, and it has more than 200 species, most of which are found in the Arab world. Among its types are the white lupine, the hairy lupine, and the yellow lupine, in addition to the narrow-leaved lupine, the fine-stamen lupine, the Constantinople lupine, and the Palestinian lupine. Lupine contains 30% protein and oils. By 28% and carbohydrates by 34%. Lupine powder is used as a lotion to treat baldness.

Ingredients

  • One kilo of dried lupine.
  • Enough water to soak the thermos.
  • Salt, to taste.

How to prepare

  1. You soak the dried lupine in water in a deep bowl, then leave the lupine in the water for a day and a night or (24 hours), but you must continue to change the water from the lupine every five to six hours during soaking in order to remove the bitterness from the lupine.
  2. After soaking the lupine, you filter the lupine from the soaking water, then place the lupine in new water in the pot over the fire and leave it until it is cooked for approximately twenty minutes.
  3. After the lupine ripening process is complete, you filter the lupine from the water and leave it for a while until it cools.
  4. To serve, place the lupine on a plate and sprinkle a little salt on it as desired.
