How to remove oil stains from clothes

Removing food oil from ordinary fabrics

Edible oil stains can be removed from clothes by following these steps:

  • Dry the oil using flat white paper towels.
  • Apply a thick layer of sodium bicarbonate to the stain on the clothing. It can also be replaced with cornstarch if it is not available.
  • Leave the sodium bicarbonate on the clothes for between 30-60 minutes, then scrub it using an old toothbrush. To ensure the success of the process, the sodium bicarbonate will begin to clump and absorb the oil and its color.
  • Repeat the process for stubborn stains.
  • Put a small amount of dishwashing liquid on the sodium bicarbonate using your fingers.
  • Wash the piece of clothing using hot water or according to the washing instructions for the type of fabric.
  • Add half a cup of white vinegar to the washing machine, as it will show a better result in removing oil stains.
