Method of cultivation of theil

Thel

The grass, or so-called green grass, is a grass that covers an area of land and is cultivated in a close and adjacent manner, and at its bottom the branches grow in a creeping and profuse manner, so that it gives a green and attractive grassy cover for the entire area planted with it, so that it is like a green carpet. It is most often grown in home gardens or in gardens. Sports places, such as football, golf, or tennis fields, in addition to gardens, private and public parks, and roadsides, are pruned continuously to maintain a specific height that does not exceed a few centimeters, so that their growth is consistent and good.

Method of cultivation of theil

The seed method or the vegetative propagation method can be used to plant green areas or thallus, which grow in a creeping manner, but the quality of the seeds, their purity, and their germination rate must be taken into account before planting. Here we will discuss the method of planting with seeds, which is as follows:

  • In terms of planting dates, cold-weather seeds can be planted at the end of the summer and fall, while warm-weather seeds can be planted at the end of the winter and spring.
  • Regarding the quantity of seeds that will be planted, it depends on the area, the type of plant, the germination rate, and the level of purity. For example, the Bermuda plant is planted at an amount of 700 grams per 100 square metres, while the Jazan plant is planted at an amount of 3-4 kg per 100 square metres, taking into account the increase in quantity if the germination rate decreases. .
  • Regarding seed dispersal: Care must be taken to place the seeds at a depth ranging between (0.5 - 1) centimetres only, and after the final settlement of the soil, half of them are sown in a specific direction, then the other half is sown in a direction perpendicular to the first direction, then the seeds are covered with a mixture of soft soil and organic fertilizer, then This layer of soil is stabilized with a medium-heavy masher, and its surface is prominently striped. It is then irrigated, taking care to keep it continuously moist for at least three weeks after planting, by sprinkling water on it in small quantities and increasing the number of times it is watered.
  • Regarding irrigation: The amount of water needed for irrigation is approximately (5-10) mm per day in the winter, and in the summer it is approximately (10-20) mm per day. As for the type of water, the concentration of salts in it must not exceed (100- 1500) ppm.
  • Regarding the process of fertilizing green surfaces: they are fertilized during their growth season at a rate of approximately (2-5) kg of nitrogen per 1000 square metres.
