Where is the Bahrain Marj?

Sea meadow

Marj al-Bahr is a wondrous cosmic phenomenon that was mentioned in the Holy Qur’an hundreds of years ago, according to the Almighty’s saying: “The Marj of the two seas where they meet. The Holy Water and one of its miracles, and the sea meadow is considered the point of contact between salt water and fresh water in the seas and oceans. Scientists have proven that the physical nature of both salt water and fresh water completely prevents them from mixing with each other, while the eye cannot see the point of separation of cold water from water. However, its location has been determined based on various physical and chemical studies and research.

Locations of Marj Al Bahr

The sea meadow is found in the waters of the seas and oceans at the meeting point of fresh water with salt water. It is also found in the place where groundwater, spring water, and river water meet with salty sea water. It is in the form of an imaginary barrier that separates fresh water from salt water and prevents them from mixing and merging with each other. The goal is This includes the divine wisdom of preserving the rate of fresh water on the planet, which represents 3% of the percentage of water present on Earth, which is represented in groundwater, snow, rivers, lakes, small springs, and even water vapor in the atmosphere.

How sea meadow occurs

The difference in density of salt water from fresh water is the main reason preventing them from meeting, as the density of salt water is 1.025 g/cm³, which is 40 g/cm³ higher than the density of fresh water. Accordingly, the researchers found that the depth of the line separating salt water and The fresh water under the surface of the water is equal to forty times the height of the fresh water above the surface of the sea. In the case of fresh groundwater located under the surface of the sea, a dividing wall is formed from less salty water in varying proportions, which contributes to preventing fresh and salt water from meeting together, and the less salty water extends in the form of a line. It starts from the surface of fresh water and extends diagonally until it reaches the bottom of salt water. This line is called the isthmus. Scientists have described it as a line, but in reality it extends widely from salt water to fresh water, and the percentage of water salinity in it decreases as we move toward fresh water. The isthmus region is characterized by limited water movement within it, which is clearly less than the movement of fresh and salt water surrounding it in both directions.
