Benefits of family planning

  • Prevention of pregnancy risks and its consequences: As the various means of family planning allow women to space between pregnancies, in some cases the pregnancy is dangerous to her health, such as the woman being old and unable to bear the health burdens of pregnancy.
  • Reducing the number of deaths among infantsConvergence of pregnancies and the health problems that follow are directly responsible for the death of significant numbers of infants.
  • Reducing the number of infants infected with AIDS: Through contraceptive methods, the wish of women living with AIDS is fulfilled not to have children, because they will suffer from the same disease.
  • Empowering women and raising their cultural level: As family planning enables women to continue their activities and active participation in society.

There are many methods of family planning available, and each method has advantages and disadvantages, and among these methods are the following:

  • Pills: They are pills that women take on a daily basis, as they are easy to use and highly effective, except that they are accompanied by some temporary annoying symptoms such as dizziness and headaches, but women with cancer, especially cervical and breast cancer, or those with liver and gallbladder diseases, are not allowed to take them.
  • IUD: It is considered an effective method of contraception, and it is a piece of plastic that may be coated with a copper wire, which is implanted in the woman's body, but it causes some mild pain during the first days of its placement, which goes away after a short period.
  • condom: It is a rubber bag that prevents sperm from reaching the woman's genital tract, and it also protects against sexually transmitted diseases, but the possibility of pregnancy still exists even with its use.
