Necessary tools

Spinach drying steps

Spinach is dried by following these steps:

  • Buy fresh spinach, wash it with cold water in order to remove dust and pesticides attached to it, then cut the stems.
  • Put the spinach on the drying tray, keeping in mind that the spinach is in one layer on the tray.
  • Put the spinach in the oven at a temperature of about 77 degrees Celsius.
  • Leave the spinach in the oven for six hours, and reduce the oven temperature in the last hour to about 54 degrees Celsius.
  • Remove the spinach from the oven and leave it to cool.
  • Put the dry spinach in an airtight container, then store it in a cool, dark place.

Spinach storage

The ideal temperature for preserving spinach ranges from 0 - 2.22 degrees Celsius, and since most household refrigerators do not reach these levels, spinach leaves should be kept at a temperature not exceeding 4.44 degrees Celsius within two hours of purchasing them. Spinach packed in bags can be stored in one of the following ways:

  • Transfer the spinach to another bowl after opening the bag, as moisture easily gets into the spinach when the bag is opened, which damages the leaves.
  • Wrap spinach in paper towels and place in resealable bags.
  • Put the spinach in the drawer or shelf of the refrigerator, and this keeps the spinach from wilting for up to seven days.
  • Note: Spinach stays fresh and well in moist conditions, especially when the relative humidity ranges from 95-100%.

Useful drying devices for foods, in addition to that the oven is a good dryer; It works to remove moisture from food, and spinach is one of the amazing healthy vegetables, as it is rich in vitamin K, vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin E, as it is low in calories, and enhances the strength of the immune system.
