We may be surprised by some oil stains on some clothes, shirts or cotton T-shirts while preparing food, or doing work in the garden of the house, or using some greasy or oily substances, or on children’s clothes while they are playing, or when checking the car engine, or due to contamination of one of the pieces of clothing. Ways to remove oil stains from clothes

There are many ways to remove oil stains from clothes, including the following:

Talcum powder

  • Sprinkle a little baby powder on the oil stain until it is completely covered, and leave it for a quarter of an hour on a flat surface.
  • Dispose of the talcum powder with a tissue, a tablespoon, or a small cleaning brush.
  • Wash the item of clothing in the washing machine as usual, adding laundry detergent and taking into account the instructions attached to the label of the item of clothing.

Note: You can replace talcum powder if you do not have it with half a spoonful of cornstarch and half a spoonful of fine table salt by mixing them together and treating the stain as in the previous steps.

Baking soda

  • Add enough baking soda to cover the oil stain, then scrub it with a slightly soft brush and leave it for a while.
  • Get rid of the excess baking soda on the oil stain and wash it as usual, taking into account the washing instructions. You will be surprised by the result and the stain is gone.

Artificial vinegar

  • Dilute a tablespoon of vinegar to two tablespoons of water to get a diluted, natural cleaning solution that's a disinfectant at the same time.
  • Soak the oil stain with vinegar diluted in water and leave it for half an hour, then wash the item of clothing in the washing machine as usual.

Dishwashing liquid

  • Put a little dish and utensil cleaning liquid on the oil stain, rub it with your hands with a little warm water, then rinse it well and you will notice that the stain disappears completely.
  • Choose a lemon or orange dish detergent because it is effective in removing stubborn stains.

Shampoo designed for oily hair

  • Apply a little hair shampoo to the clothing stain, rub it with a small brush or your hands, and rinse with warm water.
  • Place the item of clothing in the washing machine and wash it following the washing instructions and the stain will be gone.

Nabulsi soap or laurel soap

  • Wet the oil stain with warm water and wash it under running water by rubbing it in soap until bubbles appear.
  • Rub the oil stain with your hands a little, then rinse it. Repeat the process if necessary, and the stain will disappear.

Liquid laundry detergent

  • You can use liquid laundry detergent to wash clothes, as it is more powerful on stains than detergent powder.
  • Put a little liquid detergent on the oil stain and rub it well, then wet it with lukewarm water.
  • Wash the item of clothing in the washing machine, adding laundry detergent again.

Spot cleaning spray

  • You can get a special product for removing stubborn and oily stains from a major store.
  • Spray a little spray and follow the instructions on the package.

Things to keep in mind while removing stains

  • Some stubborn and greasy stains may need hot water to dissolve, break down, and remove easily, taking care not to put hot water on the entire piece of clothing, so as not to damage it. Some pieces need a specific temperature that must be adhered to.
  • Expose the washed clothes to sunlight after drying them.
  • You can remove minor stains by regular washing in the washing machine, adding washing powder and repeating this if necessary.
