Maintaining the cleanliness of the environment

The environment

The environment is meant to be the natural environment in which living organisms live and surround them. It contains soil, air, water, climate, and living organisms, and is divided into the natural environment and the urban environment. Maintaining the cleanliness of the environment is one of the duties of humans, and the ecosystem means that it consists of living and non-living components.

Benefits of keeping the environment clean

The benefits of preserving the environment are:

  • It elevates society and makes it at the top among different nations.
  • It gives people comfort and reassurance, and makes them eat healthy food free of contaminants.
  • It makes the atmosphere free of impurities, microbes, smog, and harmful gases. It also gives the earth many and varied goodness and blessings, and makes society free from diseases.

Preserving the environment from pollution

We protect the environment from pollution through:

  • Planting trees and plants around us in order to increase the percentage of oxygen gas.
  • Dispose of all kinds of garbage using safe and environmentally friendly methods.
  • Giving awareness and educational lectures among residents about the environment and its cleanliness.
  • Establishing laws related to environmental protection by the state in the constitution.
  • Eliminate types and sources of pollution, apply sound health rules, and use alternatives to pollutants.
  • Reducing noise and staying away from it, and cooperating among residents of one community in order to protect the environment and make it free of pollutants and diseases.
  • Use filters that protect the environment from pollutants.

  • Natural pollution that has nothing to do with humans, and is characterized by the difficulty of predicting the time of its occurrence, such as pollutants resulting from volcanoes, earthquakes, sandstorms, and lightning strikes.
  • Industrial pollution produced by human actions and activities, such as: industrial pollutants, solid pollutants, liquid pollutants, and gaseous pollutants.

Causes of pollution in the environment

  • Dumping industrial waste into the water, and leaking chemicals into the ground.
  • Smoke rising from industrial facilities, and smoke rising from transportation.
  • Litter dumping and acid rain.
  • Wastewater leakage into water and land.
  • Weapon tests, and atomic dust resulting from nuclear tests.
  • Use of pesticides.
  • Fumes rising from the use of some metals.
  • The noise.

Sayings urging a clean environment

  • God Almighty said: (Have you not seen that God has subjected to you all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth and has bestowed upon you His blessings, apparent and hidden?) [Surat Luqman, verse: 20].
  • On the authority of Jabir, may God be pleased with him, he said: The Prophet Muhammad, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: (Whoever has land, let him cultivate it, or let him give it to his brother).
  • Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God have mercy on him, said: (Give me agriculture and I will guarantee you civilization.)
